Finding Old Topics (Repair Shop Morgue):

How do I find an old Trope Repair Shop topic?

How do I know if an article I want to start a topic for has already been discussed?

When a Trope Repair Shop topic has concluded, the thread is closed (locked) and automatically moved to the Repair Shop Morgue.

Please do not open new Trope Repair Shop topics without checking for an existing or concluded one first. You can use the "Search Forum Titles" box above for this purpose.

Search Forum Titles tips

When is a Trope Repair Shop topic closed?

  • When action was decided to be necessary and said action has been completed.
  • When action was decided not to be necessary.
  • When the topic failed to reach a resolution (deadlocked) or attracted no interest for a significant length of time (stale).

How do I reopen a closed Trope Repair Shop topic?

First, make sure you have something new to contribute. If a topic got closed, it was probably for a good reason. Topics will not be reopened if it's just to argue with the conclusion or rehash the same debate.

To request that a topic in the Repair Shop Morgue be reopened, send a Holler by clicking on the Report Post icon (exclamation point inside a yellow triangle). Your message will be read by the moderators, who will decide on the appropriate action to take.

If you are raising a new issue with an article, rather than continuing a previous discussion, it is best to open a new topic.

In the "Search Forum Titles" thing make sure to search the trope title using the Wiki Word of it if you actually space it out it will not turn up a result.

Zzzzzzzzzz
You can also use only part of the trope or thread name; for instance, a search for "Knifing" will return the thread for the rename of "Knifing the Libby in the Back".

I just saw the headline. I would prefer if closed threads were still listed 24 hours after lock, rather than just magically vanishing on the spot. Sometimes you want to just glance at why a thread got locked, etc...
Always late to the posting party....

Asked Fast Eddie about that. He pointed out that the newly locked threads will be right at the top of the Morgue thread list and can be checked there.

But it's still a separate page and all that....

I added a link to the Morgue to my signature...it's not terribly handy, but it's better than nothing.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
