Little, apart from the fact that the armed forces consist of the military caste; I've been more focused on the vehicles, for the most part.

Alright so a conversation on skype today made me decide on a bunch of random facts about the Lancel.

• The mostly speak their own, slightly modified version of English. Their way of speaking is a tad faster than normal.

• They have three major companies which develop big ships, one which provides shielding technology, another which provides general tech for them, three more companies which work on smaller ships, from individual craft like fighters all the way to freighters and finally another company which makes custom order ships based on components developed by the other companies used under license contracts.

• One of the big ships companies has developed a weapon designed to deal with enemy shielding. It works by shooting various small pellets of disruptive materials at an area of the shield at the same time as a powerful high penetration projectile is shot at the middle of the area.

• Due to this many companies, each with their own design philosophies, goals, methods and technology, a Lancel fleet is a really disharmonious spectacle of wildly different designs.

• Due to this separation and the rivalries of the competing companies, they tend to highly specialize in a certain area while being quite average in others. A company which specializes in medium cruisers with shield disrupting technology will be the best in their field, but their laser turrets will be highly sub par compared to their rivals which do specialize in these turrets.

• The only time when most of all the rival companies of space faring vessels have come together to work on a single project was on a highly supervised order by the Empress herself for 3 dreadnoughts. These stand to this day as the pride of the Lancel fleet.

• Lancel companies which develop military tech are highly competitive among themselves. They fight against each other on all grounds possible, in the financial world as well as conducting company espionage and lead commando-like sabotage missions. Due to this, the big factories as well as the research lab tend to have the same amount of security as a military base.

• The elite of the Lancel on foot fighting forces tend have very extensive cybernetic transformations. Like, replacing everything from the waist down with cybernetic legs for added speed, mobility, etc.

• The actual army of the Lancel Empire is small compared to that of other empires. They keep a minimum standing force and beyond that, they sell either finished ships or build to specifications for other states.

• The Lancel population is also low in comparison with other states. Their birth rates are low due to a variety of reasons.

• The typical grunt Lancel soldier is less combat capable than those of most nations. They lack focus and discipline, though they tend to have quite a bunch of different and sometimes useless skills.

• Lancel engage then are often won in the laboratories which develop the technology which tends to make up for the Lancel's low numbers and general low quality grunt troops.

• Still, it must be taken into consideration that while the usual low rank grunt in the Lancel military tend to not be worth much, as you go up the chain of command and find some specialized units, efficiency and skill sharply rise.

The Verandi military is a volunteer force divided between the Terrestrial Force and the Space Force. TF fights planetside and SF fights in space.

The Terrestrial Force is still reliant on good old fashion infantry for the bulk of its power, they are equipped with the latest weaponry and armor they can get their hands on. For a nation notoriously paranoid about cybernetics and computer implants they are rather eager to use robotic weapons. Tread mounted war machines act as general purpose armored vehicles. Small legged robots scout and ambush enemies. On the water, the Verandi have large submarines they can deploy aircraft from. Air power is also a mixture of drones and piloted machines.

The Space Force is comprised of the space fleet and a variety of military space bases and forts throughout the nation. The fleet consists primarily of large, heavily weaponed and armored battleships, the less armed but faster cruisers, the dual space/atmosphere usable galleons, the terrestrial assault ships, whose purpose you can probably guess, and the escorting destroyers. They go around and kill anything else in space they don't like. Space bases are command and control in the system they host the ships or control weapon arrays throughout the system. Space fortresses are the same but they are a lot bigger and have more weapons to defend themselves and whatever planet they orbit.

The Space Fortress Techno-Forcatta is the largest and protects the capital planet of Zaphnath. It hosts a few weapons that seriously messed up the Revolutionaries when they finally invaded the star system.

Okay so doubleposting to make a sort of announcement

Since it was both leaving players out and decreasing productivity, and the example I was working with collapsed (and not even spectacularly) I'm saying all discussion should be moved back into this thread; points to Sullen for that one and by now I'm pretty positive it's part of the reason why we're so slow.

We have wiki activity, we have activity between some but not all members, so lets put everything here to at least accurately portray the activity we do have.

I didn't actually post for Rasse because the muse isn't there yet but that post was to start NAH's micro-arc Feel free to put agents in place somewhere with contacts (PM me first so we can work around NAH's xenophobia) or even make some NAH characters (again, PM) if you want to get all up ins. I'd like to request not only other factions have their own arcs sometime down the line, as nice fluff and padding narration that everyone can enjoy and get immersed in, but if you feel like it by all means let others have access to the inner workings, or hook their own grubby mitts in to further link everything, and everyone, together.

I see Verandi and Doturi are already at each others throats, and I think that's grand. And I think the execution was awesome too. If you don't want to do an intra-faction arc an inter-faction one is even better.

Nice to see you back. The guys over in Verandi are waiting for the bunnies to shoot back. James is waiting for Aimsel's reply. On a national level, the Verandi are in the process of changing leaders, and Jimmy don't like the incoming president.

So, as much to refresh me as a sort of reminder for everyone here... what are we all waiting on?

A few star systems away, the Verandi are waiting for the SAD to react to their attack.

In the hanger of the Cradle, Zael Doldorast and Elliot Khanh are sorta in a lurch with the absence of Korpers. I think me and Sullen are just gonna skip 20 minutes ahead of that conversation as soon as possible and have them do something else.

In the Council room, the meeting has adjourned and Jimmy asked Aimsel for a tour. We're waiting for a response from her and/or everyone else to chime in.

I am lazy and more to the point have several classes in the process of crashing down about my ears as my semester ends.
