A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri

Go To

Long ago, an ancient superweapon, capable of shaping worlds, changing the laws of physics, and even influencing life and death, was lost. It was another casualty of a world-shattering war, that saw the deployment of indescribable horrors and carnage on a galactic scale. Its name was Sifuri, and, as the ashes settled on the remains of cities and combatants, it was decided that some things were best forgotten, and Sifuri faded from memory as its creators set about rebuilding and reconstuituting all that had turned to ashes. For billions of years, Sifuri lay abandoned and alone on a distant world, safely out of the ands of its creators and never to be used again.

But now, things are beginning to change. The embers of war are begining to stir. A powerful force looms on the horizon, and Sifuri may be all that stands between it and the destruction of its creators. Two criminals, seeking to atone for their misdeeds, assemble two competing teams- one based around the supernatural, the the other around the scientific- to recover the artefact. It will be a long and perilous quest across the multiverse to recover Sifuri... but will the forces of magic or science prevail?

Hello once more, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri. Now, the first thing that you're probably wondering is why exactly we need another spinoff. The answer is that this was initially going to be a plot in the current Infinities game, but due to my worry that the mini-epic would would take too long, I decided to spin it off into its own game. That said, this game is extremely close to Infinities, moreso than TOTG was to the original AGOG. Because of that, there will be several crossovers between the two. Besides that, all the same rules in AGOG, and general RPing etiquette should apply.

Signups

Naturally, the biggest 'gimmick', so to speak, of this RP is the fact that characters who have science-based powers are pitted against those who have magic based powers. I'm really hoping for even teams for this, so if we have too many people on one side than some people may be given control of a second character for the opposite team. Characters who use both magic and science, such as Magitek, will be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Name: (self-explanatory)
  • Universe: (series they come from)
  • Background: (brief bio of their past, motivations, etc.)
  • Powers: (What they can do- keep it between 1-3 on the Super Weight scale)
  • Personality: (Also self-explanatory).

The game itself may not open for a while, so don't hold your breath. This is a way of seeing how may people want to sign up.

  • Name: 5th Generation Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon "Labrys"
  • Universe: Shin Megami Tensai Persona
  • Background: Labrys was one of many gynoids created by the Kirijo Group in the past for the purpose of eliminating Shadows, hostile embodiments of negative human emotion. These robots were created with the purpose of developing their own egos and achieving the power of Persona through an object known as a Plume of Dusk. Labrys was created with an enlarged Plume of Dusk and tested in combat against her sister units. She performed spectacularly against them in these tests, to the point that the scientists in charge designated her as the basis for future models and set about scarping the rest. Unfortunately, Labrys's enlarged Plume of Dusk caused her personality to develop faster than normal, and she grew horrified by the destruction of her sister units. Labrys tried to break out and escape from the lab she was created, but failed due to being on an island. She was shut down and sealed away, slated for a deconstruction that never came.

Over ten years later, through the machinations of some unknown being, Labrys was stolen from the Kirijo Group and taken to the town of Inaba. There she was placed into the alternate world inside of the television, where her shadow ran wild. It ran a tournament for Persona users to pit friends against each other. During this, Labrys was stuck in a delusion of believing she was an average school girl and president of the student government. She tried to stop the tournament, and through the interference of the Investigation Team, confronted her Shadow. She came to accept herself and the pain she went through. She accepted that she couldn't be human and joined her last remaining sister unit, Aigis, as a part of the Shadow Operatives.

  • Powers: Naturally, being a robot, Labrys is capable of taking damage that normal humans probably wouldn't. She has superior strength and speed to that of a human. She is able to launch her forearms off, connected to her body by a chain, and retract them when necessary. Labrys comes equipped with a large battle axe with thrusters integrated into the design. These thrusters allow her to swing her axe faster. Her axe can also be attached to her back like a pair of wings. The thrusters allow her flight when attached to her back.

Since accepting her Shadow, Labrys has gained her Persona, Ariadne. She can summon Ariadne at any time to appear behind her and assist her in battle. Her Persona is able to generate and manipulate ethereal string, which she uses to compliment her already formidable offensive abilities. She can use the strings to trap her enemy or give her a larger range to her swings.

  • Personality: Labrys is an energetic and driven girl. When she feels she has responsibilities, she goes all out to fulfill them. She can be a caring person who absolutely does not want to hurt anyone she cares about. At times, she can come across as strict and bossy, but thats usually because she believes its for the best.

Okay, finally getting around to this.

  • Name: Perseus 'Percy' Jackson
  • Universe: Percy Jackson & The Olympians
  • Background: Percy was born a demigod (half mortal, half god) being the son of Poseidon, and thus most of his teenage years were complete hell. Being chased by monsters who'd like nothing more than to eat him, rogue demigods and mythological figures that are huge jerks or who have been contracted by the biggest threat of all, Titans. So to help protect himself and learn how to fight, his satyr friend leads him to Camp Halfblood, where several important things happen. First he obtains his weapon of choice, Riptide (a magical bronze sword that turns from pen to sword and back, and reappears in his pocket if it's ever lost), and secondly, it's found out that he's part of a giant prophecy that could possibly destroy Olympus as they knew it. For specifics I recommend reading the series, or you could hit up the page for it because I'm hoping to not spoil too much for anyone who wants to read it and hasn't yet.
  • Powers: Being the son of Poseidon means he obviously has powers over water. From simply breathing and getting healing buffs when in it to causing huge typhoons and geysers out of the littlest cracks. Of course any big feats drain his energy like no tomorrow and he can't keep it up forever. More passive and less damaging traits are the fact that when on water he becomes a living compass, being able to tell their latitude and longitude in a second and all other nautical gubbins, and being able to communicate to both sea-life and equine-ish creatures. Poseidon being the god of earthquakes as well means he has a little control over those, but not by much.
  • Personality: Before we get to anything else, let's start with the fact that Percy is a nice guy. He helps out whenever he can, he tries his best to listen whenever someone else has their problems, and he'd be willing to die for whatever cause. It might be a bit cliche, but that's just how he rolls. 'Course this niceness isn't always a good thing. Over his travels and many fights he's come to grown a hero complex, thinking that he's responsible for ensuring everyone's safety when he's in a group, or if he can decide if people live or die. This ties into his fatal flaw being personal loyalty, and if not kept in check could lead to some serious problems. It's not called 'fatal' for nothing.

to causing huge typhoons and geysers out of the littlest cracks

And let's dial this one down to 'big waves and strong but not super strong geysers out of the littlest cracks with enough water supply'. Master waterbender level.

Poseidon being the god of earthquakes as well means he has a little control over those, but not by much.

Let's just dial that down to 'no control over earthquakes'. Also, I don't know if Percy has immortality, but not immortality.

Other than that, accepted.

Was thinking of taking him from between the main series and the Heroes of Olympus continuation. So, around 16/17?

Who IS Armani, anyways? Don't entirely remember her form the series.

Also uh there's a timeskip going on, right? Able to pop in now or do I gotta wait a bit?

You should make it so your character appeared during the timeskip. That way, you won't have to deal with the whole 'what's this, what's going on' part of the game.

Or you can join in at the tail end of the timeskip, AKA right now.

I'd request end of timeskip or from the middle of it onward, though it doesn't particularly matter I guess. It'd DEFINITELY be a scene we'd have to write though if he did come in during timeskip, be less stressful at the end of it.

[up][up]Here. He's not from the actual series; I'm unique in that I use a fanfiction taken character...a GOOD one though

I mean, if you REALLY want to I won't complain, but it'd be a lot harder to write the first interactions with armani with, as percy's intro is basically going to turn his world upside down
