Did Audience-Alienating Premise receive a fixing?

No. Looking at it again, it's the fourth paragraph that's a particular offender - the description as a whole is somewhat more evenhanded than my first impression.

I agree; I was wondering for that reason.

I also noted that while many of the examples do indeed seem pretty even-handed, there are some that needlessly effusive/explicit (kissxsis and Prussian Blue standing out). And, again, include some of the works axed by P5.

Having examples from cut works is fine as long as the examples are not prurient. Oh, and un-Wiki Word the title, so it's not a red link.

I cleaned up the kissxsis example and cut the natter from the Prussian Blue one.

While the topic is interesting (one of the A380's launch engines, the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine can take in more than a metric ton of air per second), the Real Life bits in Turbine Blender's description are quite bloated.

The description for Manly Men Can Hunt seems incomplete, focusing too much on "white collar workers".

Our Vampires Are Different needs some help with a part of its description (marked out in boldface). I tried to do what I can, but it's still not making much sense to me.

Is the "beholden as servants" aspect really limited to that kind of turned vampires? I think I've come across some of the more popular "drained to near death" turnees who are similarly thralls of their sires.

Over at the YMMV Banner thread, someone said that Standardized Leader probably needs a description fixing in order to be less subjective. The description in general rambles on about how leaders tend to be uninteresting and how the followers are always more interesting. Maybe it needs a rename or some fixing, but something needs to be done.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.

Oh, by the way, recently I took a good whack to Joined Your Party with an edit summary of "less phrase, more trope". Was hoping that by having the description highlight cases where it's more than just a "the game says X Joined Your Party", we can eliminate "limit to egregious examples only" from the in-page example list. But is that well and good or was it too large a change for the page definition?

Do we have a separate thread for Example as a Thesis cleanup? If it goes on for longer than a paragraph then it needs nuclear fire.

Like, say, Not Brainwashed. That one's been bugging me for eons, so I just took a chainsaw to it.

No, there isn't a separate thread for Example As Thesis cleaning, that's handled here as well.

YKTTW Plug needs a clearer description. What is that about?

About Audience-Alienating Premise, I figured that the laconic should be more neutral so I changed it from "even if it's done brilliantly" to "regardless of the work's actual quality". Hope this helps!smile

Free-Range Children has a bit too much Real Life stuff in the description. Not to mention that it's accuracy is somewhat questionable.

Then shunt off what parts of the RL stuff fit in Analysis and cut the rest.

Speech Bubbles. Someone seems to have confused the Self Demo article with the normal version.

Hair of Gold could use a shorter more focused description.

I chainsawed it and moved all the analysis wank to the analysis page. It really needs a rename to something like Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold honestly.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.

Thank you, and yes it definitely could use a rename, it's a magnet for Zero-Context Example and misusage.

Agree with that. The current name is pretty bad.

Would it be okay from me to just move Required Secondary Powers "types of powers" section (granted it's in a folder but it's still too long) to the Analysis tab?

I'd say yes. Don't forget to put in a link to the analysis page.
