And pointlessly sends her goons on a mission to find macguffins she already knows the location of.

Yeah, anime Galaxia was no good. Just a typical dumb Evil Overlord who needlessly abused her minions, and yet was supposedly a Purity Sue that Chaos was just controlling, so she's a Karma Houdini in the end. Egh. Yet another reason why the "Stars" season was such a bust.

The Big Bads, Galaxia included, are the weakest part of any Sailor Moon villain group.

As someone said, Wiseman was Creepy Awesome. And who would you consider the Big Bad of the Death Busters: Dr Tomoe or Mistress Nine?

The Quirky Miniboss Squads were always more interesting. They should make some Omakes or something where the Generals, the Black Moon Family, the Death Busters, the Amazons and the Animamates interact with each other.

That would be waaaay to good to be true. Thus, it'll never happen. sad

[up][up]Is that a good idea. I liked some of the character development for the villains. Especially the later ones.

Rather than being generic monster that were quickly dispatched, many of them had personalities. I think taking a few elements of that and mixing it with some aspects of the manga is the best bet.

Though I could be wrong. Lets wait and see.

[up] Don't get too negative yet man. Lets see how things go. They've had a lot of time to think, a complete manga, a live action series, and numerous other things to turn to. They may surprise you.

[up][up]Mistress Nine. Tomoe was a combination of The Dragon and The Evil Genius.

He was freaking awesome, by the way. Much more in the anime than the manga.

[up]Not saying it's a good measure, just that I think it's the route they'll take. Takeuchi seemed to be more interested on the heroines and treat the villains as disposable tools, and if she gets more creative control this time, I don't see the anime giving the bad guys the same care prior anime crews gave them.

See. That's what I'm talking about. Was Tomoe as crazy and funny in the Manga as he was in the anime?

'Cause if not, that right there is a reason not to go the kill them quick route the manga did.

Taking what worked in both, and scrubbing away the old weaknesses is the best way.

This is an opportunity to do some slick Adaptation Distillation.

[up]No, he wasn't quite the same way in the manga.

[up] He was a Complete Monster in the manga, but an Anti-Villain in the anime. Same goes for Prince Diamond. Personally, I like them as villains in both versions.

'Cause if not, that right there is a reason not to go the kill them quick route the manga did.

Well, Tomoe was never one of those villains who got killed quickly into the arc, being The Dragon and all.

Perhaps a compromise.

An Affably Evil Complete Monster for Tomoe.

As for Diamond, not sure.

That'd work for Tomoe. Diamond, I'm thinking, should be a really nasty Knight Templar of sorts.

Gah, why do I always call him "Diamond" when technically it's "Dimando?" Stupid DIC dub. tongue

"Demando" is Spanish for "I demand", so we had him called "Diamante" (which is Spanish for "Diamond").

[up] I just find it lazy that DIC could keep "Rubeus" and yet change Esmeraude, Safir, and Dimando to "Emerald", "Sapphire", and "Diamond". Why wasn't Rubeus just "Ruby", then? just bugs me

I'm also for them taking what worked in the original anime and weaving it into the flow of the manga. Too many of the villains were killed without development in the manga.

Which one? Terri Hawkes or Linda Ballantyne?

Tracey Moore wasn't shrill our over the top. I'm not really going to argue that any of the others were any good.

I agree, Tracey Moore was good in the role. It's a shame she did so few episodes before handing the role over to such inferior talent.

....I thought Terri Hawkes was fine. A lot more emotive than Tracey Moore, actually. Linda Ballentyne's done good voice work off of Sailor Moon, so I blame the voice director for her sucking in the CWI series.

I question whether Manwiththeplan actually saw and read the same version of Stars and the manga that the rest of the world got O_O Galaxia as a Purity Sue Karma Houdini? Wow.

In my opinion Terri Hawkes's over-acting is what led to the excessively shrill and far too over the top voice casting of season 3 onwards (whether or not that was Linda Ballentyne's fault).

Galaxia... Well, I've only ever watched the anime*

and I think she could come off like that because of how actually pure her original character was, and how little she gets called out for being the source of all that destruction and trouble.

Really I think that's more a part of how absurdly far Usagi was willing to go to redeem someone... And after all that ideals were crushed too.

I would say that a that absurd juxtaposition between finally giving in to despair and then redeeming someone else wouldn't fly these days, but Madoka kinda did some similar mood swinging in it's last episode.

I think the new anime is supposed to be much closer to it's Manga counterpart.

I'm not sure about it yet though.
