First XCOM and now this? Was there a good reason to turn syndicate from a good tactics game to a FPS?
But, it has some good ideas though.

Dutch LesbianNever even heard of the franchise before, so I can't complain here... I think a friend of mines had a huge DND-style rulebook that might've been based off of this game though, so am I on the right direction?

Also, I forgot to post a link to more leaked bits of script I based my original post on. Looks like we'll have a story similar to Haze, but this time the game will run in HD and won't have its PC and 360 version cancelled at the last minute.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisThat does not inspire confidence.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelWhat about open-ended PC-game-style recruiting, research, bodily modification, teams of four agents, shooting up yourself with three different kinds of brightly-colored drugs, and most importantly, the Persuadotron?
If the game doesn't let you beat every single level by persuadotronning everything that moves, and then overkilling a target with an army of 100 uzi-toting minions, then the game won't be Syndicate. Simple as that.

He's perma-banned from the fora just fyi
Oh, I'm sure it could be good if pulled off competently. The storyline in Haze is hilarious anyway.
Actually heard about this here, co-op sounds interesting, especially with those abilities.
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanI feel like the new X Com with this. It looks interesting and in the hands of a capable developer, but it could have been not called Syndicate (although it seems not a reboot but built on the original setting). On the other hand, it was a brand that died 15 years ago - and with a second episode that's not regarded as highly as the original - so for how many it will be just a new franchise?

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisDeux banned? Well, conversations will be more civil at least...
Back on topic: would love to play something other than FPS too, but given that Starbreeze has a good track record, I'll hold my breath...
Give me cute or give me...something?At least the little revealed is somewhat closer to the original style than with X Com. I grant this is largely due to differences between the original X-Com and the original Syndicate, mind. Between the two, I would peg Syndicate as easier to make an FPS while retaining the original flavor.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comThe change in perspective isn't that big an issue, it's the level of control on agents. If it's brutal legend-esque, where you can drop in when shits get real and then pop out I will be a happy panda.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Don't really know much about Syndicate although the fact that it's yet another old ip resurrected as an FPS does bother me.
Game seems to read like Deus Ex HR which was a pretty darn good game so I dunno...on the other hand those screenshots look kinda dull.
Eh, I'll wait till a proper gameplay vid before I actually judge it but still, this trend of resurrecting old games with FPS slapped on instead really really bugs me.
Better screenshots and jetbikes and floating cities, oh my!
And the cover shot makes me want to build that airsoft sniper rifle and a bluescreen. It's almost there, but at the same time so bad...
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisAnd now, a trailer with Mind Rape, homing bullets that put DXHR to shame, jetbikes and, last but not least, DUBSTEP.
The entire idea of playing as a "revolter" is well... Revolting. The entire charm of Syndicate was that you were a part of the problem.
Syndicate does seem to be more suited to an FPS gameplay than X-com though, a simple squad-command interface ala. Mass Effect would do it.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI see iron sights. The one thing that's more overdone this generation than the cover mechanic is iron sights.
I will admit my interest in Rage dropped upon seeing the need for iron sights to aim a machine gun at short range...
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"What exactly is wrong with iron sights?
Having to stop to aim all the time breaks up the flow.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Well, if I had some kind of magical crosshair for my airsoft gun, I really wouldn't mind, but having to slow down and line up your sight to actually hit someone is NORMAL to me.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisI'm split. On one hand, needing to actually aim to hit anything is realistic. OTOH, cyberpunk is one genre where "magic crosshairs" are *appropriate*: smart gun chips and HU Ds, anyone?

In order to avoid this turning into a baseless complaints thread, please follow directions in the topic title.
So, Starbreeze's remake of Bullfrog's legendary tactical shooter with strategy elements has been finally unveiled after lots of teasing. Since the hardware capabilities went considerably up, we are no longer limited to 16-color, sprite-based isometric display where our heroes were exactly thirty pixels tall - instead, we get up close and firstpersonal with our hero, codenamed Miles Kilo and resembling Ewan Mc Gregor at least a bit. The backstory is pretty much the same - corporate rule, people required to have chips installed in their brains, and then there's war for market dominance.
The marketing schpiel claims the new Syndicate to be a "brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge", and if you read the leaked script, it becomes obvious that either in the beginning or after a few missions, the main character pulls a Heel–Face Turn and goes on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge against the corporation that killed his parents. Not quite what Syndicate was about, but at least it's a better critique target than idiotic whining about "everything being turned into first-person shooters". Anyway, it can be justified - we're going back to the Syndicate universe to see it from a different perspective. Plus, the game's story is written by Altered Carbon's author Richard Morgan, so it really can't be that bad.
