[up] As long as the plan doesn't mess with the spirit of the trope, count me in. What's the plan in question?

[up]If both crowner options pass, the old definition for SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced will be pulled through YKTTW, possibly with a few examples, while SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced wicks from the main wiki will be disallowed and the And the Fandom Rejoiced redirect possibly cut.

The current SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced can be denattered but otherwise stay.

[up] Sounds like a good idea, as long as the new definition isn't overly tweaked. However, if I can suggest something, I'd wait at least two weeks before doing so. The most prominent subpage is the Video Games one, and E3 2012 is coming pretty soon. That expo is bound to have bombastic announcement, and tropers (including myself) might well be eager to write down their perceived instances of the trope for future readers to see.

I hope that sounds reasonable enough.

[up]I'd think they can add it to both AndTheFandomRejoiced.Video Games and the new YKTTW.

[up] But what is exactly the YKTTW you have in mind? Just curious.

It's basically "fandom is sceptic, then some announcement/event causes it to rejoice"

[up] So it's about "Initial skepticism, then the fandom rejoiced". And I guess the gush-only examples that fail to meet such criteria will end up among the generic gushing, right? Well, It's kind of a big change to me, but I'm okay as long as we make another gush-related subtrope for that, like, "Good News, Fandom" or "Announcement-related Gushing" for the ATFR examples about the times "the rejoicing comes as soon as the first announcement", which make up most of the ATFR examples so far. Whaddaya think?

ATFR is going to become the gushing trope and keep the gushing examples. The trope examples will go to the YKTTW'd trope.

We should create a "Gush-inducing announcements" section in each gushing page then. Having the example randomly crammed in there just wouldn't fly. For example:

Gushing examples

  • Blah blah
    • Same here, I love the Blah blah series. And the Blah blah EX forces 2? Can't forget the feeling of that one.

Gush-inducing announcements

[up]I think that this is what would have gone into Megaton Announcement (the announcement, not the gushing).

Wait, wasn't Megaton Announcement about announcements coming out of nowhere? (As far as I can tell, "The Unexpected" is about individual characters.)

However, by now it's clear that the line between these similar-to-each-other tropes is inevitably blurred. Drawing it once again might come in handy. Doing so after E3 2012 would be even better.

Calling crowner.

  1. Take And the Fandom Rejoiced to YKTTW.
  2. Disallow wicks on main pages and cut the Main redirect.
  3. Clean up the namespace.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.

I've cut the wicks for SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced, Cue Cullen, The Fandom Rejoiced, And The Fandom Rejoices, cutlisted these redirects and made notes on the discussion pages. I also made subpages for several very large work examples and added a note on SugarWiki. And The Fandom Rejoiced to prevent re-wicking.

Now:
  1. Do we cut the And the Fandom Rejoiced redirect straightaway and remove the wicks as we stumble across the redlinks and as they reappear on the Related page, or do we first remove the wicks? (And I really don't have the time - still caught with Your Mileage May Vary)
  2. Someone more expert than I am should take the original trope to YKTTW.
  3. Subpages need cleaning - will probably do when I am less tired.

After some thought, I went ahead and cutlisted the Main. And The Fandom Rejoiced redirect. I've also saved the contents of the Related page so that we can remove the wicks without having to wait for them to reappear on the related page.

Now, the main redirects have been cut but the And the Fandom Rejoiced one wasn't. What do we do with it? Re-cutlist it?

Also, the And the Fandom Rejoiced subpages need to display the Sugar Wiki look.

"Please do not link to this on the wiki"?!?

Explain... please. >_<

[EDIT: I was just freaking out again. Now I've seen the reason in the page history. Don't know how that'll fly, though.]

[up]Vague term, will have to edit it, but it means "do not wick to this from outside Sugar Wiki, outside of trope descriptions or indexes".

Anyway, we'll have to cut the wicks but the Your Mileage May Vary wick removal is taking my time now.

Wait, so "And The Fandom Rejoiced" can't even be linked to in YMMV tabs?!

I would understand if we forbid links from other tabs, but isn't "allowing YMMV and Sugar Wiki items" the purpose of YMMV tabs?

Because cutting every reference to ATFR is kind of dumb, there's no way to get around it.

Unless we create a separate Sugar Wiki tab for works, in order to allow work-related gushing pages. In that case, you guys can count on me again.

[up]Check Most Triumphant Example and SugarWiki. Most Triumphant Example.

That said, the And the Fandom Rejoiced subpages can still stay. Examples can still be added there.

Okay, I did. But we can't do exactly the same for ATFR: remember, MTE is a trope about other tropes and their supposed "most fitting example". This trope, on the other hand, is... well, a trope itself.

I don't quite know if the last sentence was clear enough, but, unless we manage to keep the ATFR examples already existing in the YMMV tabs (and even than, it'd be just the starting point), I highly doubt this will work. For starters, just because an instance of ATFR is in a YMMV page it doesn't mean that example is in the ATFR tab for the corresponding medium.

We should either create a Sugar Wiki tab for SW tropes on each work's page, or just create an ATFR page for every work that has some rejoice-inducing example. As for the latter, I'm very willing to start saving the examples in jeopardy right now, so, if you happen to come across a new ATFR subpage every five minutes, you know who most likely was responsible for it.

[EDIT: created a separate ATFR page for articles with ATFR sections of notable size, although for now I've given that treatment to Video Games only. No examples shall be lost.]

Just found this out. Thank you for telling me before it was actually deleted from every single page.

Is it now PROHIBITED from posting this trope on a page? It's been among the tropes I used the most here.

[up]If it's In-Universe or invoked, you are allowed. Otherwise, it only goes into the ATFR namespace.
Sharknado Warning
Bumping this as I'm still seeing non-examples of this being plastered all over the wiki

EDIT: The Caller's been called but none of the actions associated with it have been done yet. Will put the main redirect to the cutlist as per ccoa.

We first need to get rid of wicks to it.
Is there a list of which letters in the Related To page have been cleaned already?

What would be the best way to fix the page?
