...I've never heard the term, personally, even in English, but I'll vote to swap it with the redirect because that's opaque and, if it's a pre-existing term, it's probably not a popular one.
Unless someone will correct me...
Anyhow, let's see... I might take a rewrite crack at it.
I am now known as Flyboy.Pretty sure I created this and probably launched it to soon. I pretty forgot about the trope until seeing this and it hasn't really gotten much use, and I see it has a rather long (and somewhat flamey) real life examples section. Honestly, it could probably be cut.

HodorIt doesnt need to be cut, its got plenty of examples but its title is dragging it down. Its in french and an obscure book title (which from my googlefu the English version uses the English title) naming tropes after works is looked down on a bit too.
An Intellectual Supported Dictatorship or something to that effect to where the smart guy realizes that democracy doesn't work and such so decides to help or be the bad guy is a good trope. it just needs to tell that better and get known.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Good name; gets my support. I'll see if I can whip up a slightly better description if I get a little time, unless someone else steps up to the plate.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. This one is legitimately in French and the description needs some serious polishing. I do like Raso's proposed title. I'll make up a rename crowner for us.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick"Intellectual Supported Dictatorship" is a poor fit for the examples. Trahison Des Clercs is even worse, but that's beside the point.

I think Treason of the Intellectuals works fine, personally...
I am now known as Flyboy.I kind of like the Intellectually Supported Dictatorship suggestion, and maybe the rewrite could like mention that this concept was titled Traichon Des Clercs in such and such book.
HodorI'm pretty sure the Gratuitous French is the term used in academia.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanIt would be in the examples list.
I laugh in the face of suffering.Rename it and give it another run through YKTTW (then launch it again).
Fight smart, not fair.Given the support for a rename, there is now an alternative titles crowner for this trope here. Feel free to add names as you see fit.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOn the treason name I am really not a fan of using the exact title of a book as a trope name (even though that's what it was before too.) I would prefer maybe a slightly different wording to separate it from the book although nothing comes to mind personally.
Edit: Betrayal?

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'm also not a fan of Treason of the Intellectuals, but mostly because I think it misses a large part of the trope. There's more than one way to be treasonous besides supporting a dictator, and it gives no information about it, just that the intellectuals are the ones doing it.
Fight smart, not fair.Calling for Intellectually Supported Tyranny.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickStarted move. For whatever reason Blackford Oakes and Blackford Oakes Series are separate pages that need to be merged.
Edit: fuckin' silent e's.
Also, I simply deleted the Laconic, it was simply inaccurate from what I could tell.

Fight smart, not fair.Wiks moved, note sent. The new page needs a rewrite and cross wiking while we're at it. I blanked the laconic.
Fight smart, not fair.
Crown Description:
Previous crowner showed consensus support for a rename.
So from what I gather from this its Intellectuals supporting a evil country or movement because they view it better?
The title is completely out in left field with only 11 wicks.
EDIT: actually it seems to be a book title, but the title uses the English translation Treason of the Intellectuals which is a redirect.
