I guessed that this was indeed named after the character from Peanuts... but that tells me absolutely nothing about what the trope is, as there are a number of possible character traits associated with him. Just one more example of why character-named tropes are bad. Rename.
Rename. It's character-named trope for a character without a major defining characteristic, not to mention it has enough wicks to rename before it spreads.
Rename.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdDefinitely rename; maybe Intelligent Innocent?
Currently reading a Sci-Fi Dystopian Murder Mystery Forbidden Romance Adventure Thriller IN SPACE!. Your argument is invalid.Character-named tropes being liked or not, this one fails one of the main "tollerable" criteria for Character Named Tropes: It fails the One Mario Limit, if the description has to disclaim other Linus character from being relevant.
How about Naive Prodigy? Without the diaeresis.
As for Guess That Trope, the first Linus I though of was Mr. Torvalds. No, I have no idea why I'd think a trope would be named after him either.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - Camacan"Without the diaeresis"? Why?
And yeah, rename. Big time.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And even if it is broke, just ignore it and maybe it'll be sort of OK — like the environment."The plain version is the main entry for Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com and Wiktionary; it's also used far more often than the one with the diacritics. There's really no reason to use them.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanPerformance is not terrible, but underwhelming, so I am comfortable renaming, although it would still be good to see a Wick Check.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Accidental Aesop, Ban on Politics, Matchmaker Crush used it as potholes to the character, but all the other wicks checked out. That's pretty minimal misuse, so I guess tropers are smart enough to figure this one out.
I do have two questions though:
1. Why do some people pothole the same word six times in the same paragraph?
2. How much longer will it take before we've gotten all the YMMV stuff off the main page? I'm still finding pages LOADED with YMMV tropes (Characters.Ka Blam had about 20).

I agree that the most famous "Linus" these days is Linus Torvalds, not the character this trope is named after.
So yes, time for a rename. Character-named tropes are a poor and discontinued practice.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!YMMV on this being the "most famous" Linus (I think of Oceans Eleven Linus and Peanut's Linus first), but yeah, this fails the One Mario Limit.

+1 to rename per previously stated reasons.
Bump. Are we gonna rename or what?
In support of a rename.
In favor of renaming.
Since everyone seems to be in favour of a rename, alt titles crowner created and hooked.
Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text-Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffSo this trope seems like Wise Beyond Their Years Child Prodigy who often reminds the audience he's a kid by being innocent, naive or generally child-like and age appropriate. Hmm, I feel like Innocent Prodigy doesn't communicate the 'child' part.

SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Really? I mean, prodigy almost always refers to children in common speech.
I think she means that it doesn't get the childish part across.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickBoth really. I mean it's better than just The Linus, but still kind of wish it was more...descriptive? I dunno.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)Calling it on Innocent Prodigy.
A brighter future for a darker age.The Linus is now a redirect for Innocent Prodigy, the wicks are fixed (save for a few artifact ones), and the old quotes page has been sent to the cutlist as there is a new one in its place. There are also notes about the change on the Renamed Tropes page and in the renamed tropes thread. I did not see any discussion to move.
Feel free to check my work here though. I may have made a mistake during the rename process.
