Any other boxing tropers here?

My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.

Oi. I'm a boxing troper. I had an interesting thought: anyone else want to make a useful notes about boxing? I've tried to start one before, but I didn't have time to actually go anywhere with it.

C'mon, MMA has one and boxing is everywhere in media and influenced damn near everything. So wheres the love?tongue

Has anyone read Hajime No Ippo? It's a manga about boxing and it really makes me want to learn boxing.

Used to box, gym closed, surprisingly few in Boston that I can find online at least. Especially when you're looking for a special niche of: technique focused, serious, willing to accept the fact that I am more focused on the whole grad school thing than a career in fighting.

Long time fan of the sport here.

To answer a question from earlier in the thread, I've toyed with the idea of doing a boxing page a few times, but it's too big a project for the limited time I'd have to devote to it. That said, I'd love to help contribute to making one.

I keep looking at boxing (JUST BOXING none of this mma stuff). But finding a place to practice/learn/perform is hard in the midwest. It is not exactly a widespread sport anymore.

If anyone's still down to get a boxing page up, I'll contribute.

Bumping this because a friend of mine has an article about a recently-passed Olympic Boxer. Anyone who's interested in boxing technique, give it a look. I'm more of a Muay Thai person, but I'm pretty fascinated by what's going on in boxing. here.

i am an existential crisis and people won't stop having me.

Thread bump

If anyone out there is interested in boxing or just seeing what should be a hell of a fight, this Saturday on HBO there's a bout that has a lot of potential as a Fight of the Year candidate. Russian Provodnikov and Lucas Matthyse will be taking each other on, and both are hard punching, in your face type warriors. Fireworks should be expected.

For reference, here are links to Provodnikov's biggest fights, against Mike Alvarado and Tim Bradley, and highlights of Matthyse's fights with John Molina Jr. and Olusegun Ajose.

If anyone else is going to be watching, I hope you enjoy it.
