Meanwhile, I'm just wondering just what's supposed to be represented by the Venus symbol with two crossbars instead of one. I can only guess that it means that Dabbler is particularly into the Free French during World War II.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Well, that was quick. As usual, Sydney is genre-savvy and watching for the bad guys to come back for the second round of combat.
I don't know Maxima, do you really want t use full power in a closed space?
Trump delenda estTo be fair, we don't know if Maxima is going to use full power. And the question at this point isn't whether or not she wants to go full power (I bet part of her does), but whether it'd be wise to. My guess - this is a stronghold for a group that's been ready to go to supernatural war in the past. I think they made sure the foundation's pretty secure, so to speak.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Meanwhile, the baddies' leader with the fancy helmet seems to be hiding, I think. Sydney may soon do her genre-savvy thing and track him down.
= Spindriver =Poor Racoon.
"You can reply to this Message!"Huh... I thought they were cutting back on milk products in candy bars (mostly due to there being cheaper milk substitutes). A quick check showed me that Butterfinger, at the very least, does still use milk.
Also, there's a very demented and clever sense in building automaton assault troops like that. They soften up their foes with their anti-supernatural weapons, they sap their foes' strength when the foes try to use their main power (magic) against the automatons, then they explode when their enemies are truly softened up. I don't know if this would have taken out large numbers of the gathered supernaturals, but it definitely would have been a nasty first move in an all-out war.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Unfortunately, the author already beat me to the Bloody Roar comment. Anyone else wonder if the cross-shaped shape of the opening on the helmet of the one attacking Sydney is a hint that this is going to turn out to be a religion thing?

Pathological hatred of supernatural beings combined with access to supernatural resources, and that helmet design? I'd bet you that the word "Templar" will crop up fairly shortly.

= Spindriver =Disarming a golem is less effective than you might think. Of course, so's the shadowy council..
I know werecreatures in many traditions have heightened regeneration and resistance to injury and toxins (outside of their particular Achilles' Heel, of course), so I hope for her sake that Kat comes from one of those traditions.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Evidently, the inherited trait for were-badgers is "don't give a shit."
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. It is the song of those people, yes. Mustelid-based? Check. Fucks given? Very few.
Wait, we can't be sure of that just yet. Let's get some were-ferrets and a were-skunk in here to make sure.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I'm amused by Kat's final line. Sydney's panting kind of has me wondering if she's again forgotten she has a limited supply of air in her bubble...
I don't think the scene has been going on that long - action scenes are typically rather decompressed. I think Sydney is just overexerted and out of shape still.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I assumed she was over-excited about a were dire honey badger.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Guys, we could use "ratel": weredireratel is still long, but it's less cumbersome than shoving "honey badger" in the pot.
Also, "ratel" is a perfectly fine word. <push-push-push>

But, but . . . Were Dire Honey Badger. Why would you not want to say the whole thing?
Also, the comic continues to prove that Were Dire Honey Badger don't give a shit.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Because a ratel is a ratel if you grew up in the Eastern Cape. "Honey badger" is for idiot tourists who lose their fingers trying to feed them peanut butter and golden syrup sandwiches.
Heck, the Englishes from the places that actually have them? All use "ratel", including from the Indian Subcontinent. <_<

Speaking as someone who gave up trying to convince people to use "cavy" years ago... sorry, but I think you'll just have to accept that people are going to say "honey badger."
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Cavy is way more accurate, though — given that it's no longer really used for hares or rabbits and they are rodents. <_<
I think something like that happened in Dino Zaurs.
And I can not believe I wasted neurons on remembering that.
