Bayonetta 2:

Continuing to fight angels alone might get a bit tedious.

Honestly, unless a Bayonetta sequel branched out with new characters and factions, fleshed things out, and made a lot more sense (i.e. got a better writer) I'm not sure what it would have to offer to justify its existence.

[up][up] If I'm not mistaken (someone please correct me if I am), the Human World is called Chaos according to Bayonetta.

[up] I'm pretty sure it isn't. And the virtues depend on who you ask. The ones in the game are the four classical Greek Cardinal Virtues: Fortitude, Temperance, Justice, and Prudence. The other three are the Christian Theologal Virtues: Faith, Love and Hope. But those three are probably a lot less prone to be used by Knight Templar - kind characters and "angelic" monsters.

Welp, nevermind then. tongue

Alternatively, there's the Seven Heavenly Virtues in Catholicism that directly oppose the Seven Deadly Sins: Chastity (Lust), Temperance (Gluttony), Charity (Greed), Diligence (Sloth), Patience (Wrath), Kindness (Envy), and Humility (Pride).

It'd be cool for a sequel to have Bayonetta attacking Hell, er Inferno.

Honestly, I think Bayonetta should stick with fighting heaven. Just as Dante should stick with fighting hell. I'm up for a demon or two as recurring characters, though.

And if a DMC/Bayonetta Intercontinuity Crossover doesn't work, they could just continue to hint at tangible connections like they've been already slipping in.

And I agree: hunting angels is Bayonetta's shtick, just like Dante's is demon slaying. As much as Status Quo Is God tends to rub me the wrong way when handled poorly, there's no need to mix it up between the two.

Bayonetta 2 was announced when Bayonetta was released. They've intended a new IP the entire time.

[up] I didn't know that… but frankly I really can't imagine what a Bayonetta 2 would look like. The gameplay of Bayonetta is so deep and the content so fleshed out that a sequel could bring only superficial additions. The same way Ōkamiden mostly added a lot of confusion to the plot, but not much improvment to the gameplay compared to Ōkami.

Story-wise, well, Bayonetta destroyed the Cardinal Virtues and punched God into the sun, so one can wonder what happened to Paradiso after that… would a sequel be a Mooks but No Bosses game? In the first game we also fought what was supposed to be the strongest Elite Mooks of Paradiso (Joys, Braves, Gracious and Glorious) and kicked the ass of a Fallen Angel feared by God herself.

So what remains we could fight in a sequel?! Nah, really, this game is better off by staying unique.

The sequel could always have Bayonetta take on Inferno. Honestly, I'd like to see what Platinum Games could do with Inferno.

Sequel Escalation would be no problem for Platinum. They'll think of something.

The'll have to find a way to out rival Asura's Wrath in the over the top department, first.

Well, Bayonetta already holds the advantage seeing as it's all going to be playable. [lol]

[up] .......... Not funny......

And you obviously didin't notice all the other videos with melee combat in it.

And Bayonetta had a lot of those too, you know....

I guess I just prefer my superpowered Escapist Character heavenslaying Bad Ass planetbusting worldsaving hamspewing Beyond the Impossible-pushing unstoppable Beat 'em Up champions to be ubersexy dominatrixes who have a penchant for stripping instead of superangry multiarmed demigods.

Am I the only one who wasn't all that thrilled by Bayonetta's combat? I mean, yeah, the combat was frantic and challenging, but many of the weapons were redundant, not to mention hard to find. And I fucking hated the Press X to Not Die bits.

So what you're saying is you were thrilled with the combat, just not the weapons and QT Es.
Come on, there isn't that much Press X to Not Die in Bayonetta, and they are limited to bosses (notably that f#*$≠ missile against Jeanne and a lot of Button Mashing against Fortitudo) and finishing moves for a few mini-bosses.

There are more QTE in one hour of Asura's Wrath than in an entire playthrough of Bayonetta.

The time Luka cops a feel while being heroically rescued should have been a QTE.
