Music that soothes your heart:

1 d Roy, Tue, 23rd Aug '11 1:24:36 AM Relationship Status: Hounds of love are hunting
There are many songs or soundtracks that can make one feel very calm and serene. What are yours? I have many, but for the sake of promotion, here:

complete noob

4 pagad, Tue, 23rd Aug '11 2:48:08 AM from perfidious Albion Relationship Status: Having tea with Cthulhu
5 JHM, Tue, 23rd Aug '11 3:15:42 AM from Neither Here Nor There Relationship Status: I know
Thunder, Perfect Mind
La Monte Young's The Well-Tuned Piano, Coil's Time Machines and just about anything from Brian Eno's ambient period.

I'm not sure if Sufjan Stevens' "Vito's Ordination Song" and "The Woman at the Well" quite count, as they both do very strange things to my emotional constitution that I cannot easily explain. Ditto Angels Of Light's entire repetoire, especially New Mother.

This one has a curious effect on me. An almost mystical vibe, really.

no one will notice that I changed this

"Canigas d'Agua" by Axial comes to mind.

In agreement with JMH on "Vito's Ordination Song". Add to that "The Transfiguration" off Seven Swans, and "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "The Winter Solstice" off Songs for Christmas Vol. V.

"Whisper Softly" by Chasing Furies.

You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!

Not exactly soothing, but i find Depeche Mode to be cathartic.

Errr, I think about half of my taste in music revolves around this, either via being calming or being cathartic.

Calming:

Cathartic: EDIT: Ugh, fine, apparently embedding more than one youtube video in one post is not allowed. So link instead, The Antlers - 'Corsicana'.

I thought this was an uplifting way to end a remix album.

About time I post something of my own.

Moronic, pretentious fan
After eclectic, wanky nerd-rock, this forms the other core of my musical palate.

Because I choose to.

Also this, but you may have to turn the sound up to hear it properly.

And this

I'm not dead yet!
I was depressed the first time I heard this song. It's been my go-to song when I'm upset ever since.
We're going to spread this shit like Nutella.

Collapse Under the Empire is a German post-rock band with electronic elements that writes lullabies for my soul. Enjoy the music and forget I just wrote that corny-ass shit.

Whenever I'm feeling down, I play this song. It's a bit hard to explain, but this song always fills me up with hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.
