I just got re-diagnosed. Before I was told I had ADHD. Now I'm being told I have both ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome.
This, and to larger extent this is problem with all the 'popular' disorders. I will forever loathe the twits who think there self-diagnoses is worth a damn. Most of all I dislike the people who think they have Autism/Aspergers just because there socially awkward, ignoring the fact that there are dozens of disorders that feature social awkwardness as a symptom.
And it certainly doesn't help that most people can't tell the difference between Autism/Aspergers, ADD/ADHD, OCD/OCPD, Schizophrenia/Bi-Polarity/Mania, etc.

I just saw this thread. I'mma join. Well, I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was four, but I told when I was ten.
I wanted to bring something up. Is anyone else annoyed with pop-culture's tendencies to portray Auties and Aspies as one-dimensional and anal? It seems that it has become a Hollywood Disorder.
Also, it seems almost "trendy" among certain social circles to have autism spectrum disorders. That sorta bugs me too. :/

Well, here I am. Diagnosed with Asperger's, ADHD, and a very minor Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. (Yet I rely on spell check way more than I should. Irony?) I suppose I would be doing myself a great disservice not involving myself in this coven.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD. Do to some classes I took, I am a lot better with socializing than I used to be. I'm even able to function without medication nowadays.

Newbie aspie reporting to duty!
New Guy at 23 with daiganosed with asperger's syndrome 20 years ago and have been living with it ever since I have been known to have that came out wrong moments with out even realizing it for a year or two but i also have horrid hand writing obsess about things and even have a nasty temper. I also tend to "freeze up" Draw a blank or forget what i'm doing in the middle of doing it a lot.

I don't see how Aspergers Syndrome and Schizophrenia are incompatible... I've known others who have obviously had both...
Anyway, Aspergers Syndrome... It really annoys me when people just say they have it even though they haven't been diagnosed. I don't think they realise how difficult it typically makes the early part of your life. Then again, I am a bit of an expert in spotting ASD traits in people who are undiagnosed.
