I feel like being a smug elitist today.

I tried looking at the summaries of the episodes for references to Norse/Anglo-Saxon/Germanic peoples, but found none, so I'll have to ask people who actually watched the show to direct me.

Here is the episode list.

Syera: Um, yes. It is a series.

As for the topic, I got my answer to this question a while ago. I'm disappointed that the show doesn't stick in any wild guesses about norse myth.

Apparently the only people who didn't need help from Aliens were the ancient Europeans, according to the show at least.

Well ancient Europe was sort of boring.

You heard me.

Aside from Stonehenge got anything that could be remotely blamed on aliens like a pyramid, gigantic drawings only legible from high altitude, or oddly misshapen busts of people with bad hair dos?

Ancient Europe was just one white guy killing another white guy for all the usual reasons.

Ancient Europe was awesome. A part of it is actually how little we know, and how what we do know begs so many questions. For instance, the Germanics forged the most intricate and well-made swords known to mankind. Ever. This is relevant because it suggests they had martial arts that would take full advantage of this workmanship. After all, any weapon's better than a sword unless you're properly trained.

In turn, knowing this would give a better picture of how they fought one-another, the Celts and especially the Romans. We know the Germanics had a culture that glorified one-on-one combat, and that makes awesome sense if they had a developed style of swordsmanship. Swords are fine battlefield weapons, but they're kinda wasted on formation fighting and are much better in skirmishes or in loose formations. Funnily enough, we know that a primary Germanic (and Celtic) battle tactic against the Romans was based on dispersing their tightly ranked-formations so individual soldier-to-soldier fights could take place.

How did the Celts and Germanics relate to one-another? We know they fought, and we know they allied and we think they were tsundere for one-another at the most hostile, but how did they interact on a civilian level? How did trade work?

And, most interestingly of all, what did these people think? We don't have very much written word from the Celts or Germanics of the time at all, and all we do have is in Roman script.

Ancient Europe is a land of mysteries. That's brilliant. <3

None of which requires Aliens to explain it.

At least they don't try to bring Aliens into China either, at least from what I've seen.

It may just be documentation. Europeans and Chinese wrote about how they did things, while we just have some Heiroglyphics and estimates for everything else. That invites orange people with unfortunate hair cuts to posit Aliens for everything unexplained.

Interesting idea. It would at least explain why some people default to that explanation. Though if you can explain the Great Wall by virtue of good old back breaking labor I don't see what precludes the pyramids from that.

The point is that aliens are irrelevant; ancient Europe is interesting on its own merits.

Oh dear god.

Although, for some reason there was a sudden rush of brilliant scientists coming out of Europe during the later 1800's-early 1900's. The Nazis also had some very interesting tech.

I doubt Aliens had anything to do with it though.

I feel like I should watch this show, in order to know what kind of nonsense they're spouting off so I can properly address it when people ask me about it, but it's just so dull and uninteresting. Plus that George Toksoifsjfosifjs-whatever annoys me (also, what's up with his hair?).

His hair is indeed quite ridiculous.

His latest do looks like he's wearing a pirate hat, but its his hair.
