So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
Gushing on the YMMV page is fine, isn't it?
I'm... not sure.
YMMV pages can gush some, but it still needs to be reasonable and subdued...the Sugar Wiki pages are where it's more proper to gush. Gushing needs to be kept off the actual pages whenever possible.

YMMV pages should state facts about opinions. That means to keep off the blatant gushing just as much as we'd keep off blatant complaining.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hot Fuzz might need a bit of cleanup.
What is this "sleep" you speak of?Porn with Plot is really gushy, about both the porn and the plots.
Taking steps to abandon this handle.Rockman 4 Minus ∞ is way too gushy and has no substance to it. When your description starts off by putting down other similar works for not going to the lenghts your work does, you're doing something wrong. Even the quote is gushy, and a comment by some dude on youtube even.
I tried to purge the gushing, but I just ended up with a description that names the basic elements that were added to the ROM Hack (New level designs, bosses, features, weapons, music, enemies from previous titles... basically, stuff you expect a big ROM Hack would do) and nothing else. Is anyone here familiar with the game here, to make a better, non-gushy description?

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."So, uh, Troperiffic has about the gushiest example list I've ever seen. I removed what was probably the only bit of complaining on the entire list, but beyond that I'm at a loss. Thought I'd put it here.
I tried to rewrite the description for Rockman 4 Minus Infinity. I mostly just cut out the putdowns towards other ROM hacks and reworded some stuff. Kept the You Tube quote though.
The works page for Demon Of The Underground, in addition to being poorly formatted, is also extremely gushing. There's a paragraph in the description devoted to saying how incredibly deep the main character is, and not-at-all like those other typical characters. I fixed the formatting issues but not the gushing- I'm not sure whether to delete the last two paragraphs or try to reword them.
I did fix gushing for works by ThatPersonYouMightKnow. Most of his works were being edited by a single troper, who was a huge fan of the guy. I cleaned up work page descriptions and did some trope page work too. I'd want to keep a close eye on these pages though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a bit of gushing all over the place in Awesome.Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney. A lot of those, if they should be listed elsewhere, seems better suited for And The Fandom Rejoiced instead.
Sure, it's an Awesome subpage, but shouldn't there be some restraint?
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportGenre-Busting seems far too positive to me; almost a Sugar Wiki page in the main page. Some of the examples are questionable, too - is Sailor Moon really genre-busting? It always seemed like just your average Magical Girl show to me. Back To The Future also isn't really genre-busting, sure it has Period Piece-like elements, but it's mostly a Sci-Fi film.

There's nothing inherently gushy about Genre-Busting; not really sure why you got that impression. The issues you mentioned sound more like shoehorning than gushing. Removing Square Peg Round Trope is a free action; if you see an example that doesn't fit, get rid of it.
It seems part of every third entry in No Flow in CGI is either gushing about aversions or complaining about straight examples.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I've toned down the gushing on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Animaniacs has a bunch of gushing in the description. Going to tone it down.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? All In The Family has a LOT of gushing. Going to remove it.
Just another day in the life of Jimmy NutrinFriends needs a rewrite since it's too focused on praising the show. Will get on that later.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?So I went to rewrite Friends and realized I wasn't really qualified due to not being knowledgeable enough about it (despite having seen several episodes) to make a decent synopsis to replace the gushing.
I did, however, remove a line on Chekhov's Gunman that was randomly giving praise to the writer of Fairy Tale.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I found this example from YMMV.Dr No. It reads like a positive Complete Monster entry, in this case gushing about a villainous character.
- Magnificent Bastard: Dr No. A brilliant Mad Scientist and expert in nuclear physics who successfully embezzled millions of dollars from the Tongs before graduating to the Nebulous Evil Organisation SPECTRE and becoming their first operative to fight Bond (and die, but thats a Foregone Conclusion). The archetypal Bond villain who enjoys fine dining, has an army of ruthless killers at his beck and call (and scares the hell out of all of them), personally designs a magnified aquarium decades ahead of its time, and is Genre Savvy enough to electrify the Air-Vent Passageway in the heroes' cell. Claims to have "never fail(ed)", thinks the East and West are "points of the compass, each as stupid as the other", and can crush ornaments with his metal hands. And for all that he is only on-screen for about 20 minutes max.
Here is my suggested rewrite for Friends. I'm not sure how to sum up its type of humour, or what made it stand out.
Its most iconic location was the "Central Perk" bar (a joke on New York's Central Park), though most of it took place in two studio-built apartments, and it was filmed in California. It featured dozens of guest stars, including big names like Charlton Heston.
While each episode is mostly self-contained, it was among the first prime-time comedies with an evolving status quo. Most of the cast went through several jobs, all went through plenty of love interests, and two became parents. It was also more open about sex, including gay relations, that was usual when it first aired. Alongside Seinfeld and Sex and the City, it reshaped American romcoms in The '90s. It also spawned a short-lived spin-off, Joey.
It also has an Idiosyncratic Episode Naming in which episode but "The Pilot" starts with "The One With…" or "The One Where…", pre-empting what viewers would likely call them.
I trimmed the entry for Lunar of gushing. It could help If anyone more familiar with the games were to go over it.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Funny.RWBY Chibi contains basically every moment in the entire series. Like, I get that the Moments pages are actually about gushing, but this is ridiculous.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.
The Main and YMMV pages for Speed Racer are really gushy.
