Trying to avoid racism with my Smart Guy character

The Smart Guy in question is an energy based attack using teenager of Cantonese and Eastern European Jewish descent. I'm trying to avoid any racism with the common stereotype of both races being insanely smart (Being of eastern european descent myself, I hate the stereotype, I'm an Idiot Savant, not a genius)

So please don't call me racist and help me here.

As an Asian person, it bothers me more when the Chinese person is a bumbling awkward nerd than smart.

But alright, if you're that worried, just avoid the caricature of Smart People. If he's smart in a normal believable way, that's not stereotyping at all, that's just giving your character a normal believable trait. Smart = good at logic, creative, competent; not Smart = recites pi to the 100th decimal and publishes physics papers every other week.

If you want to avoid racism, make sure that "Smart" Isn't his only personality trait. Stereotypes are one-dimensional, proper fleshed out... non-rascist characters are more developed.

I don't ever portray my characters as nerds, despite being one, but thats beside the point, he's supposed to be a normal teenager, albeit with Shock and Awe abilities
