2012 Election Wikipage I was looking for info on the 2012 race. First, I noticed the dates for the nominating conventions ie Prohibition, Socialist, Constitution, Libertarian (my favorite), Americans Elect, Republican, and Democrat. Then one of those just isn't the same as the other moment happened. American Elect has it's own Wikipage. American Elect has its own website as well. Make way for the Radical Center!

If you want you can join and be part of the online June 2012 convention to nominate someone. Ballot access: Alaska, Arizona, Calfornia, Kansas, Nevada.

The new political party that isn't. New political party added to Arizona's ballot. The future of elections. Irregular Article. Can a third party change 2012? Donor list

The announced on last night's The Colbert Report that they have ballot access in California.

Also, I went through the questionnaire, and as the diehard liberal I am, I was only not in the top choice 5 times (once I picked the second most popular)

Most hilarious result: 90 someodd percent of people think we're losing the war on drugs.

Going through the process of this right now... the idea is very cool! This is the sort of innovation we need.

Yes, but it's limited to your colors and the community. No, candidates, yet or debates.

The numbers are wildly unrepresentative, since a lot of what's going on here is the Colbert Bump.

It feels to me like a big sign that Democrats and Liberals are seeking an "out" from the Obama presidency, which is going to seriously hurt him. However, that was my theory before being exposed to Americans Elect, so it's entirely plausible that I'm just searching for information to confirm my theory.

I don't know, but I tend to be hitting the most popular options every time, which tells me I have more in common with Colbert fans than I thought...

[up] The second one seems rather likely, actually, you slyly effective debater, you... [lol]

Question: What would happen if we banned all foreign imports? That's the question, and I refuse to answer "unsure."

"When it comes to US economic growth and job creation, which of the following statements comes closer to your opinion?"

Make it difficult for foreign products, make it less difficult, ban then, or let them in completely unrestricted...

I am generally not in favor of autarchy. As far as inefficiencies go, that's a really big one, and I think isolationist policy is a bad idea in general. That doesn't necessarily mean that we can't say "Hey China, you treat your workers like shit-we don't want your crap here," but simply banning imports would be disastrous.

Right, going with "make it hard for them to get in," then. Because the Chinese economy can go die. [lol]

So far, my highest ranked issue is "foreign policy," and I only fail to hit the Colbert fans' viewpoint when we get into social issues and environmental policy...

Edit: How bad is outsourcing? I have no clue...

Edit Edit: Never mind on outsourcing. In the meantime, it appears that I pretty much hit the Colbert fan average for list of concerns and their relative importance, but my high rating of foreign policy skews it a bit...

I'm hoping that the Colbert Bump proves effective enough to spread the word out to a more mixed group (disenfranchised moderate Republicans perhaps?) and thus actually become relevant. Off to Facebook then!

Colbert Bump? If that worked, Herman Cain would be the front runner. I still like the cute political color wheel thing that symbolizes your political values, but I don't know how the things going to actually work out. They have ballot access in only a few states as of yet.

[up][up] Yeah, I'm thinking aiming for the Presidency instead of starting with local elections may have been too ambitious. Still, I'll see where it goes; I think it'd work great at the local or maybe even state level in the future.

The Colbert Bump only works if the related show is flattering towards the candidate. Cain is treated as an idiot by The Daily Show and hasn't really been treated super well.

Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show are two seperate shows that come one right next to each other. It really depends on SC's fans who don't watch the other show to Colbert Bump Herman Cain.

The Colbert Bump is affected by The Daily Show because the two shows share a very strongly linked audience.

The Colbert Bump siphons off energy that The Daily Show generates largely by, well, being more full-of-itself and willing to talk about how awesome it is.

Colbert report might be fun.

But a Daily Show interview is probably more prestigious since Stewart is actually better at interviewing than many.

With some notable particulars exceptions in which he has failed.

Also Christine Odonell just stormed out of Peter Morgon (or however he is called) tonight.
