Contrary to popular opinion, I actually enjoyed the first film and I am really looking forwards to this one.

More info here.

Too bad they are cutting corners on this one (from hiring writers who have never done action before to getting the director of Step Up 3-D to recasting almost every actor with a cheaper alternative). It amazes me that Paramount is opening in June rather than a dump month like September.

How are they going to make another GI Joe with the actors for Cobra Commander, Destro, and the Baroness gone? The Other Darrin?

While I hated the first one, I mean really... they turned the Baroness from ...'THE BARONESS'' into some mind controlled good girl, I wouldn't have minded them trying to fix the damn thing. Cutting corners like this... they're just trying to milk the franchise to eek out a few more bucks before it dies. Pity, GI Joe could have been something good.

I don't know anything about the original franchise (blame me not being American), but I am not sure how well it could have turned out to be anyway.

Come on, a team of special ops troops with the dedicated mission to stop an omni-present terrorist organization? You don't think they could have turned that into a good movie or two?

Since you put it that way, guess you are right.

Oh, and I was very, VERY, pleased by the casting choice for Storm Shadow. Where I live, he's hailed as epitome of Badassery and Draco in Leather Pants and Stupid Sexy Flanders incarnate.

While the first movie was crap they came to the plotline, direction, visual effects, dialogue, narrative and characterisation. The film's true stars were able to provide a quality entertainment throughout most of the movie.
