Riots in England

Rules:

British Police arent armed for the most part so dont ask why they dont just shoot the rioters and deal with it in another thread.

No talking about how great you may think the rioters may be, they aren't so just deal with it.

Ok, tonight, the riots have spread to both Manchester, West Brommwich and Wolverhampton with rioting still in Birmingham and London

How close are those locations to the site of the initial incident?

Not very, heck, Manchester is 100miles from my hometown and the Midlands is about 100miles from London.

This has reached down to Medway (part of Kent) where last night a group of "youths" got off a train and started setting fire to cars and doing other stupid shit.

I'm happy I don't live anywhere near the train station right now. Still I have good odds of the local chavs beating up anyone who tries to start stuff down here. :P

Last I heard was police got rubber bullets and extra police have been pulled in from as far as Wales. (insert obligatory sheet joke here)

They said that sheep were being cooked alive.

Four fires dot my window. I live IN Birmingham City Centre.

Cars set on fire near a train station.

A buildings near the Bullring (a shopping mall) is in flames.

Choppers and sirens are a background noise to me now.

Birmingham is 120 mi away from London.

There is also rioting in Salford, which is just outside Manchester.

Since I can image the Welsh and Scottish going "Those crazy English" before (In the case of Scotland) voting for independence.

According to reports, the looting has spread out from the CC and into other areas of Birmingham.

No, its just in England atm.

The sirens are dying down out here.

I'm assuming that the worst may be over, as police have chased off 30 trying to loot a watch store.

It has been suggested that many of the rioters are using BBM (Black Berry Messanger) to plan (These people plan?) and one MP called for it to be shut down or opened up for the police to read traffic.

Edit: People on Twitter are trying some random stuff. There was a cleanup group set up earlier today that was trending now there is #Operation Cup Of Tea.

BB has said they'll produce a list of users who have used BBM to co-ordinate the attacks.

Thankfully nothing yet in Milton Keynes or Sheffield, the former being my home town and the latter being where I currently live (though I'm on holiday in Norfolk at the moment).

A lot of sites like http://www.zavilia.com/ have sprung up as well.

Flooding London with 16k cops from 30 forces has seemed to calm down the rioters.

It's gone quiet around here. Eeerily quiet. No shouts... no sirens... nothing.

Norfolk's been very quiet, but I suppose that's to be expected. I think I saw the Hunstanton riot earlier, then he went home.

Honestly surprised this hasn't spread to Glasgow. Did some funny gas that only works south of the border get released into the air or something?

I have the window open in one of the Suburbs of Wolverhampton and I cant hear any sirens either and its weird because since Friday, I've heard one about once every 20 minutes.

It's been gradually creeping north, so I wouldn't celebrate just yet. I'd be glad if Scotland and Wales escape this bout of idiocy, though.
