I find that my writing skill evolves too fast. That is to say, I finish a draft, and immediately, I know that I can write something better.

Yeah, it's tough when you find your writing skill improves substantially as you write a novel and so your earlier chapters feel like crap.
i feel my writing style changes ever so slightly every time i write, but not enough to notice untill i try enough times.

There are plenty of times I look back on something I wrote a few months ago and think "didn't think that out as well as I could have", but I don't notice a really dramatic shift in my writing until I go back a few years and witness everybody declaiming like Tolkien's characters transplanted into a penny dreadful.

As I've said before, I know full well there will come a day when today's writing seems like utter crap.

(For a more serious answer, it depends on how much I'm writing. Stuff from last month has already lost its luster, and anything before that just looks awful.)

How often do you read something you wrote a few months ago and think "Wow. This sucks", and then proceed to rewrite it?
It's funny because it happens to me all the time. It's good because I can tell I'm improving, but it also makes me feel like I'm a perpetual amateur.
A few days ago, I read again the final chapter of the second book of my series and thought it was absolutely masterful, the best thing I had written in my whole life. I read it again today (after reading the first chapter of Lord Of The Rings) and thought it was okay, but very rushed. I'm getting dangerously perfectionist... It makes me want to rewrite the books all over again, and at this rate I don't think I'll ever truly finish them.
Does anyone have the same issue?
