Well, I will be pretty scared of myself on the road, considering I'm gonna learn how to drive in a year. I've clocked up over 500 hours in total on Need For Speed, Burnout, Grand Theft Auto, and Midnight Club.

Well, at least I know what makes good driving music.

They should give me a license for the amount of hours I clocked on Daytona in my local arcade..

GTA did help me with defensive driving now that I think of it. I'm so used to those stupid AI ramming me or switching lanes without using their lights that I look for it in real life.

Playing GTA style games while trying to keep your car in nice condition is often difficult, and was actually on of the first things that made me think "what if driving is actually hard".

Still I stopped playing LA Noire the week before my test, just to keep me focused on what driving is actually like.

It was raining during the driving test that I passed, and it's surprising enough that something I thought when I got into the car was basically, "This is just like that one race in V Rally '98". grin

^^Have you played V-Rally 2? That game was awesome.

Heck, I loved Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit.

Anyways, I heard that Mercedes-Benz has started up driving schools to properly teach teens how to drive. And they're starting one or more such schools in the US.

Heh, you reminded me of that one time when I managed to take the three-ton UAZ military jeep out of a slide and avoided trashing someone's fence. I acted on instinct, having no previous driving experience apart from video games.

When I was 17 I got a citation from the MP's for drifting in a school parking lot. Looking back, it really helped my defensive driving skills.
