Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 confirmed.:

Borrowing the game over a weekend. My Phoenix Wright/Frank West/Akuma team is doing fine. Now if only I could only level up Frank more reliably... or at all....

^ I have the same problem. Luckily Frank is fairly powerful even if you don't level him up.

Yeah... If I could combo.

Eh, Frank's fairly stream-lined in his combos. You'll get it pretty soon, I'd bet - don't worry about it.

The hard part is linking that camera at the end of them - it's startup is longer than it seems, so if you don't do it exactly right the opponent will recover while you're doing it.

Yeah. My only hope for leveling Frank up is THC, but my team can't help Frank with that. Also, have a bad habit of doing launcher instead of snapshot in the middle of combos. Can't reliably land the camera without a second or so.

It almost looks like instead of an exposed gumline, he just has a really wide smile now. Pretty amusing.

I agree, quite amusing. I wish I bothered to do it first but at least I know I came up with in the first place. tongue

Oh Tron. You're such a bitch. But that's why people love you.

And it's also because people dislike her in the first place. I wonder if this game made Phoenix get loathed more by fans. :P

Which Phoenix? Phoenix or Phoenix?

Well one is annoying, resurrecting cosmic being while the other is a lawyer....so hard to tell. [lol]

I meant the X-men one.

Ah, makes sense. How emo was she in the comics compared to this?

Because she's pretty damn emo here.

Huh? A Jean Gray Scott Pheonix? I don't remember her at all? All I remember is a girl who gets knocked out with one combo.

(Honestly, I really don't like her. I would love to use her in normal gameplay, but she has SUCH little HP one mistake means she's dead, and unless you're pulling the Dark strategy there's no point using her)

She doesn't angst about Dark Phoenix even remotely as much in the comics.

On the topic of Phoenix, if you had a chance to rebalance her, preferably in a way that makes her viable as Regular AND Dark Phoenix (in other words, viable as a point or anchor character), what would you do?

I would think add a Rage meter that fills up as she attacks, and a full Rage meter along with 3 bars of Hyper is needed for Dark. Buff Regular Phoenix's health, nerf Dark Phoenix's health and I think she'd be good to go.

Phoenix has really got to work on her endurance then. That's just plain bad right there.

Great Gentleman Thief!
Buff Health, Damage, and give her a full level 3. Also, increase the effect of Healing Field.
Hopelessly Confused Lieutenant
[up], [up][up]Just buffing her like that would make her OP, what with Dark Phoenix in the back, no?

(I hear when you do add Pheonix's health AND Dark Pheonix's health together, it still is pretty dang bad.)

What I'd do? Nerf Dark Pheonix and do the opposite of what ultimate did to her. Instead of making Jean weaker and Dark Pheonix more powerful, invert that. Give Jean stamina to actually be more useful then wet paper, and keep Dark Pheonix but give her less health and make her attacks a little less as killer...and/or give her a uniuqe level 3 super (as well as normal Jean Gray as well, amounting to 2 level 3 supers in DP mode) (Why the level 3 supers? Because I feel everyone should have a level 3 super)

It makes Dark Pheonix less worth it, but on the other hand it makes Pheonix be able to actually compete in the game.

Overall, I'm not exactly a fan of this metagame. Everything is COMBO COMBO COMBO! and it's, "oh you missed and the enemy hit you? Enjoy spending the next 20 seconds watching your HP drop below 30% (if you're lucky) as the enemy comboes you into oblivion."
I'm not a pro at this game, watching this happen over and over the entire match, every match, is not fun.

[up][up] Yeah, seriously. Badger, I think your idea would work. I'd also suggest raising her HP a bit. Dark Phoenix or not, she has half the health of the second-lowest characters. At least bump her up to 500K or even 550K. 375K (or 420K if you're a vanilla kind of guy) just doesn't cut it. That's part of the reason (along with Hax Factor) Phoenix only sees play as an anchor in the first place.

[up] I was thinking for my idea, Regular Phoenix would have about 600k, and in Dark she'd only have 250k. (shrugs)
