You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Who's got some classic rock recommendations?
All of time and space, anywhere and everywhere, any star that ever was. Where do you want to start?Turn on a rock station. Too many to list.
Untitled Power Rangers StorySeconding Queen. Also, Boston. And The Eagles. And Journey. And Kansas. And classic Chicago. And Jethro Tull. And Pink Floyd. And Creedence Clearwater Revival. And Crosby Stills Nash And Young for that folk twist.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Seconding all of the above, and also adding Styx and Emerson Lake And Palmer.
ELP is especially good if you like Heavy Mithril, but want it a little softer than the metal sound.

Jesus saves. Gretzky steals, he scores! Thanks guys! So many bands.
All of time and space, anywhere and everywhere, any star that ever was. Where do you want to start?Seconding classic Chicago so fucking hard. Their first two albums are two of my favourite albums of all time.
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKCan someone recommend me something in the "Schwarzer Sarg" style of Yousei Teikoku?
ERROR: Signature not loaded@zam: I can also add Led Zeppelin (duh), early Black Sabbath if you want something harder, and Spooky Tooth (get their album Spooky Too) for some good progressive blues-rock.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~~Face Palm~ Thank you drunk, though I can't imagine how I forgot one of my favorite bands in my recs. Obviously seconding those recs.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! As I'm sure most people are aware of by this point, I like just about everything when it comes to music. However, I've found that fast, hard, and rough music often serves to fuel ideas and clear my mind when I write or do an assignment.
The best example of a specific song that I love because it does this is "Darkness Surrounding" by Avenged Sevenfold. I love that I can focus on the lyrics or the instrumentals, and that each one is different and complex. (Can't link, sorry...) I like Trivium some, but I would really love some more Metalcore music and bands.
"Classic rock" is a huge umbrella term encompassing a variety of different styles, so it depends on what you're looking for exactly. Do you want...
- ...a souped-up version of '50s rock and roll? All the British Invasion bands, except perhaps for the Beatles, started out this way. Listen to anything the Animals, the Kinks, the Who, the Small Faces or the Rolling Stones made before 1966.
- ...straightforward, gritty rock with a lot of folk, country and blues influences? Anything by Creedence Clearwater Revival (except perhaps Pendulum) will be right up your alley. As will the Rolling Stones albums Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Exile On Main St. and Sticky Fingers. And Bob Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited. Little Feat is another gem in this category that's often overlooked.
- ...gentle, pleasant, vaguely melancholic tunes? Most of the Beatles' stuff will do, as will the Kinks' The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society. Also check out Traffic.
- ...simple, catchy rock? The kind of "classic rock" that's played on classic rock radio stations? Well, try anything by AC/DC before the Highway To Hell album, particularly Powerage. Also, ZZ Top, especially 'Tres Hombres and Degüello. And of course Status Quo (Piledriver and Quo).
- ...heavy blues-rock with a tinge of psychedelica and lots of solos? Go for Jimi Hendrix and Cream, or the lesser-known Blue Cheer.
- ...even heavier stuff? Give the Big Three of hard rock a listen: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath.
- ...haunting, drug-fueled psychedelic rock? The Doors, 'nuff said.
- ...progressive rock that's still more or less accessible? Pink Floyd's masterpieces Meddle, Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here will satisfy your needs, as will Focus.
- ...progressive rock that's NOT accessible by any standard? Emerson, Lake & Palmer wrote the book on that. There's also Gentle Giant if you prefer something more listenable (but still pretty damn complex).
- ...theatrical, hammy, lavishly produced rock? Try Queen or Meat Loaf.
Well, there's probably a lot I forgot, but this should get you started!
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Metalcore, eh? Try out Kill The Romance, Saxon, and Sinner.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Saxon isn't metalcore at all! Just good old traditional Heavy Metal.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Eh, I just rec'd it for being similar to Avenged Sevenfold.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! It is? Huh. Well, Saxon has been around since 1979 or so, when metalcore wasn't even invented yet... I know they've undergone a big Genre Shift since their first albums, but I always thought it was more towards Power Metal.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Traditional Heavy and Power Metal are fine, too. Just so long as it's hard, but melodic, it's good.
Can anyone recommend me music similar to either (a) Poets Of The Fall, or (b) Blackmore's Night?

Untitled Power Rangers Story
Hmm. I have a feeling I can help Liberated Liberator out here.
King Crimson and Jethro Tull fulfill both the Progressive Rock (but the original definition of the term, not the modern stuff everyone else has been recommending) and the unusual instruments (in both cases, flute) requirements.
If you're feeling a little bit country, Marshall Tucker Band is a Southern Rock outfit that features flute pretty heavily in the songs I've heard, as well.
And if you're in the mood for something darker and harder, and like harpsichord or electric violin (a violin that sounds vaguely like an electric guitar) at all, Emilie Autumn might be something to check out. Just keep in mind that I warned you about how Grimdark she gets sometimes.
