Okay, some of the Transfomers material I had in mind is of the "teen" rating, you got me there.

But Digimon V-Tamer 01, I couldn't think of anything but how it reminded me of the Marvel and Dreamwave Transformers comics for the intense but (mostly) bloodless violence against pseudo artificial beings (less obviously, Blade: Vampire Hunter Volume II after Zero evolved and the unashamedly 90s character designs) and Beast Wars was wrapping up around the same time Digimon Adventure was getting on TV and it wasn't any more violent, at least not as far as dismemberment and body count went. And say what you want about the quality or lack there of in Beast Machines, it went into a lot more detail with the whole planetary population annihilated thing than Tamers did.

Yeah, the Japanese stuff was undeniably more kiddy, at least as far as violence and overall subject matter went(it strangely, tended to have a lot more fanservice...Digimon fans should be familiar with that) but there's a reason why "Worst Country Ever" was a Memetic Mutation.

And Dragon Ball was more violent. Maybe Digimon would have an edge on Death Is Cheap if Adventure, 02, Frontier, X Evolution and Xross Wars didn't exist but as stands, periodic cast and setting shifts are the only things that make it less noticeable.

That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastes

I know Erio. I didnt mean to say the English dub was the definitive or better or anything. Im not actually all that different from you. I grew up with the Latin American version which was FULLY UNCUT and with undubbed songs like Brave Heart(We did dub the Openings, for all seasons we got uncut.)

I just felt like defending from the accusation of it being more lenient with Violence than Sex. I do admit the Xros Wars dub did allow lots of violence and it sensors the most sexual imagery, but before then the English dub wasnt hypocritical at all. It did edit lots of violence AND it allowed the EXTREMELY fanservice y Angewomon AND Lady Devimon.

On second thought, there might be hipocrisy in the 'They allowed said Angewomon and Lady Devimon' but there are limits man. Cameltoes on Kids TV. REALLY?

And no, there is nothing artistic about Mervamon, so it really has no defense for leaving it uncut. Sure the artistic vision might be a bit broken but I really doubt Toei put her Camel Toe and Torpedo Tits for ART!

And this is someone who LOATHES Saban Brands and what they did to Xros Wars. Hell! They might maul the crap out of my favorite anime Franchise, Pretty Cure. If Saban had their way its going to become GLITTER FORCE. And that's the title they decided when GANGNAM GIRLS was not allowed, I really have no love for them. I just think calling them hypocritical was a bit wrong.

Im all for uncut anime, but I do understand some edits are necesary. Sure,if there are edits I will never watch said dub at all, but I do understand that there are some things that are off limits for Kids TV...In the USA.

I DO NOT want edits on a Latin American dub.

While the breast size was pretty overly high in the original, the toning down was a bit more reasonable(and to be frank, it still looks massive even in the dub). But the cameltoe was not acceptable. That just means their clothing is so tight, you can see it as if they're almost wearing no clothes. This is just like showing a male character with low bottom clothing and an erection. Sure, maybe in an actual porn show, but even Kill La Kill actually showed zero sexual bits. It's always covered. It sure as hell jokes about it. I do not know if the original is worse about this for KLK, though.

I draw the line when the body clothing is so tight, it shows sexual-like bits. Leave that in porn, but have a little decency in the show. Sadly, this wasn't as lucky during all of Frontier's dub. You can see a clear cameltoe during Kazemon's base transformation and even the dub theme alone. It's not some huge one or beyond sexual by any means, but it's there. It probably doesn't help that one of her character's moves is pretty much an ass shove attack. -_- "Love Tap" is right.

The various anime seasons do suffer from sexual stuff in general(I use the term suffer loosely, cause I won't pretend all care or are bothered), same with very heavy violence and rather dark drama. I am glad they aren't highly bloody too. That would've made the Myotismon stuff unbearable. Especially when you realize his "Crimson" moves stand for "Bloody" in the original. That's the dub name, likely due to the color of the move itself. And it sounds more kiddy this way, and I do admit, I think it sounds way cooler. I like "Crimson Lightning" or "Bloody Stream". Of course, the original name makes more sense for a vampire, but many of the dub names seem to run off of Rule of Cool. Like the Giga name usage. Giga Cannon and Giga Blaster are not bad sounding names at all.

How do you think they will pull off the rookie to champion digivolutions? Basically, will they just show the digimon spinning around and changing forms like in the first two seasons or will it be a lot more detailed this time around?

Maybe they will polish it a little, but I don't see them being that much different from the original because of the nostalgia factor.

I can seem them punching it up.

Technically, the savers animation also had them spinning around, but added a few extra bells and whistles as well.

There hasn't really ever been a lot to the Digivolution sequences. 02 did the spinning thing with some bells and whistles, too, though ultimate and above had some extra stuff. You really only have the more elaborate sequences for higher levels.

Yeah, but I think that starting with tamers the digivolution from rookie to champion was more detailed.

Yeah. Tamers is definitely where they beefed it up.

I'm assuming they'll go halfway, and make the rookie to champion evolutions more elaborate, while simultaneously keeping them true to the old way of doing things.

Do we have a clip of the first Rookie to Champion digivolution in Adventure?

We do.

And seeing we got new animations following the old mold for the PSP game, I kinda doubt they'll change it that much. If anything, it'll be polished.

Oh, so slower, with more of the graphics, and a preview. I was wondering if that was something they'd do for all of them in Tri, but I doubt it.

The only one of the Child to Adult evolutions to not get that treatment in both Adventure and 02 was Plotmon to Tailmon (Salamon was it? To Gatomon).

The other 11 partners got that sequence at least in the debut episode of their adult form.

Salamon is the proper Rookie dub name, yes.

Not surprised, as she showed up once in the Adventure series. Salamon's only other appearance was during Frontier than I can remember. Maybe I missed a few moments among the other shows, but at least this was a more major appearance. Whether the Monster of the Week, or just a traveling buddy.

IIRC Kari's Gatomon went back to that form after evolving to Sylphimon on a quite regular basis.

Still, bit of a waste, Gatomon's debut had her punching the lights out of the other Adults with relative ease, having her be pretty much a Child wasn't that good.

We never even see Salamon fight.

Maybe Salamon's attack options were just not exciting enough for the animators? I forgot about that. I thought she went back to Gatomon form. It would be neat if she returned to that whenever she DNA'd, went to Ultimate, or potentially went to Mega. Albeit, I could see her returning to Rookie after going Mega, but only because she has little experience with it at the time. The two normal Megas in Adventure 1 went to their In-Training form extremely often after going Mega. I think by the end of the season they could stay in Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon form for a far longer time. But that's a practice thing. Metalgreymon quite quickly de-digivolved during the fight against some Devidramon, yet took a while against Etemon. Kind of weird...

I think Gatomon may have the absolute weirdest evolution chain. Polar bear head -> cat head -> dog -> cat -> sexy angel -> Falcor.

The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."

Or armored angel with exposed belly, in that very same individual. (still, the main theme of the traditional line is "holy creature")

[up] Pretty much. It's why Nefertimon is her base Armor. Holy Creatures is her thing. Where as Patamon is more specifically "angels" instead. They clearly have overlap sometimes.

That said, maybe they could do more with the Armors. As we know, there's not only some Armor Digimon that are on the Drama CD's only, but they could allow the Digivices to use Digi-Eggs from the other Digidestined, allowing other possible choices. Albeit, how to actually show that off in-story without them being overused as simply "right mon for the moment" in a Deus ex Machina sort of way is another story.

Or it could be Polar bear head → cat head → dog → cat → sexy angel → hotter angel with more armor.

Princess Aurora is underrated, pass it on.

Well that same season also had old man > seedling > plant > cactus > pixie > DOMINATRIX.

Then there's whatever the hell Gomamon's line is supposed to be.

[up][up] Gomamon seems to basically be some form of a sea lion(is that the right monster, besides his obvious seal animal rookie design). His digivolutions are all matching that, and him being somewhat of a seal helps too. Including Plesiomon. Vikemon fits the design from Ikkakumon and Zudomon as well.
