Alright, I'll synopsis-ize the first three chapters briefly, slightly more detail will come on 13x tomorrow.
Chapter 11 — Another Journey:
8 turns, ending on enemy phase. Took the bottom path. Hector is level 3; got a red gem and vulnerary; four enemies left, but the castle guards can deal with it.
If Matthew was allowed to break down walls (or if I'd managed to draft him...), could've been 2 or 3 turns sooner by the top route. He was forced to dodge three arrows that would've killed him, including one with a 67 hit, because I thought he started with a vulnerary without checking his inventory and Hector had already charged ahead. Oops.
Chapter 12 — Birds of a Feather:
6 turns. Marcus killed the boss, Bartre got the secret book, Hector took care of most of the rest and is now level 5. Sold Eliwood the Undrafted's rapier.
Wolf Biel is running out quickly, but OTOH, Hector needs his preferred weapon least out of all the lords—normal axes are still strong and the enemies it's effective against usually have lances anyway.
The reason it's running out is because the hand axe leaves pegasus knights on that level with 1-2 HP left and they like to fly off to places I can't reach, so I had no choice. Anyway, I can trade him Dorcas' iron axe later.
Chapter 13 — In Search of Truth:
10 turns. Would've been 9 but Hector missed Boies the first time on a 75 chance.
Had Marcus carry Matthew to Guy, the logistics of which I was unsure of with the reinforcements spawning next to him and Matthew not allowed to fight, but Guy kindly moved in closer as soon as Matthew was dropped. Guy got his first two kills with the iron sword formerly belonging to Matthew, finishing a bandit and doubling a soldier. Haven't used the killing edge yet!
Hector walked across the river (I felt so clever) and bought more hand axes, Bartre got the torch and a few kills, frustratingly ending the level at 99 EXP because he missed the final blow on the last enemy of the map. Oh yeah, Hector is level 7 and looking good, while Marcus had an amazing level-up of one HP point.
Hector still does not have an iron axe. My lesson for this level was to take care of weapon trading at the beginning.

Only the sun has stopped.By the by guys, I'll probably be starting the draft a bit late since I want to finish the current file of Radiant Dawn that I'm doing. That okay?
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!I'm having trouble finding the save file mentioned...that, or I'm using it wrong...anybody got a link?
:smug:I said the wrong site. It wasn't at Serenes, it was actually at Grandbell. Just change the name to whatever game but with a 1 at the end and load the state.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonSo, uh, I'm curious. What's this topic about?
Welcome to th:|I'd say reading the OP would help.
Anyway, I've completed Chapters 11 and 12 with the write ups in my liveblog. No stats or screenshots though.
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonA draft is a competition of sorts. We will beat Fire Emblem in Hector Normal Mode with a restricted number of characters (where Hector and Athos are free for all, and Marcus is free for the first chapters, but gets banned halfway through)
In the main Fire Emblem thread, we drafted teams of 6 (with a few restrictions, like banning Karla, or making Karel and Harken the same character, just so the numbers would fit), and we're now trying to beat the game with only those characters. Undrafted units cannot fight or visit villages, nor can they rescue drafted characters. They can only meatshield, trade items and shop. Matthew can freely do thievery stuff, that's an exception we agreed on.
The winner is the one who took least turns.
That's the basic gist of it. Now, as for my playthrough:
Kapitel 11 - Noch eine Reise
...Because I'm playing in German (need to practice). And by the way, did you know that "Beil" means "Hatchet" in German? And the Hand Axe is called "Wurfbeil", that is, "Disposable Hatchet". This is so awesome.
Hector took the lower route, using mainly his Wurfbeil to get rid of archers, while Matthew hid in a safe corner. The armour knight slowed Hector a slight bit, forcing him to use the Wolfbeil, but no biggie. He even got an awesome level up, everything but Res.
Soon enough, Hector got a clear route to Wire, while Matthew snuck in and stole a Feuer Juwel (Fire Jewel), that cheeky thief Wire, just to spite me, decided to use a vulnerary instead of attacking and killing himself on his turn. Bastard.
Total turns: 8
Kapitel 12 - Gleich und Gleich...
Unusually tricky, this chapter was. Hector moved for the northern woods with his Wurfbeil to take care of that bandit and a few Peg knights, while Oswin had Hector's back covered (not missing a single Javelin. Man, I love Oswin).
Meanwhile, Marcus the Rittmeister easily cleared the southern half of the map with nothing but axes (courtesy of the fighters). I had to skip that Secret Book, though, I had nobody to fetch it.
After the frontlines were dealt with, and only Zagan and a couple of bandits remained, Matthew moved for the armory. Marcus, being the upstanding Rittmeister that he is, took the Red Gem and went shopping himself. Two lances, two axes were enough. Also, Lowen got to buy two vulneraries.
Why did I send Marcus to do the shopping? Why, because Hector would attack Zagan and potentially critical him in this very turn. If he didn't, he and Oswin would easily kill him the next one.
...But it wasn't so simple. Hector missed with a ~60% chance of hit, but Zagan hit Hector with a ~40% chance. That's the second boss who's trolling me. When Zagan attacked the next turn (and this time, he was in a forest), he missed and I hit him. HA!
The very next turn, Matthew returned Marcus' weapons and is now holding all that shopping (with Serra holding Matthew's old sword). Hector's situation against Zagan seemed grim, but here comes Oswin! To save th- oh, he missed
It is up to Hector now. Hector must hit twice AND dodge at least once in order to kill Zagan in this turn. He could use a vulnerary, or retreat like a little girl and wait for Marcus the following turn, but German Hector runs from no foe! Hector valiantly attacks and proudly takes Zagan's counter, being left standing with 2 HP. Zagan then prepares to deal the finishing blow and...misses! Hector counters and hits, slaying Zagan by himself after a very hard-fought battle
Total turns: 5

I'm working on getting my thingy to run now. I should have the first chapter or two done by today.
EDIT: Got it working. Starting up file as I type. I forget, does the Birth Month do anything? And can we put the list of who has who in OP for easy reference?
edited 11th Jul '11 9:20:55 AM by Xiphoniii
:smug:Only changes your affinity. Characters with the same affinity get minor boosts in hit, dodge, critical, etc.
...That might be why Oswin is always so awesome with me. I was born in October.
Units with the same affinity as the tactician birth month get a small bonus to accuracy, avoid, and crit evade. Relevant info can be found here, look under "character base stats" for their affinities and "calculations" for how it works.
I usually use my real birth month (July; coincidentally my birthday is in 6 days!), but this time I took April; Thunder element boosts Hector and Bartre, who probably need the increased accuracy/avoid most.
This all seems so much more awesome in German.

Only the sun has stopped.@alfric, there's no real time limit to when you finish. The timelimit on the draft process was mainly so that we could begin in a timely manner, but now it's on you. Play when you can, post when you can.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadAlright then. I'll start a Liveblog for mine, so that this topic isn't too heavily filled with chapter reviews. I'll start it in a little while.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!Chapter 11: 9 turns. Took a little longer cause I wanted to level Matt on the archers a little bit. Low path. Left the upper archer.
:smug:Aw nuts, I fail at predicting. I was expecting you'd finish in 4 turns or something with Matthew able to help clear the upper path. You'll probably make it up next chapter with all the axe users he can fight though.
Having only Hector up there sucked, I forgot most of the enemies start at his end on Hector Mode and Marcus can't do all the work. Either use the hand axe and the pegasus knights escape to heal, or the Wolf Biel and he can't counter-kill the archers and bandits.
Only the sun has stopped.Augh, stop being so squishy Matt! I send him in to take out an archer, and a spearman or a lucky axe user sneaks in and kicks his ass....
:smug:I've just started my Liveblog here, so check it out if any of you guys are interested. I've only just beaten Another Journey, but I'll be getting some more up soon.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!Shit, I went for the southern path in chapter 13 instead of the northern, forgetting that bandits can destroy villages. Northern might be the faster route anyways, so i might as well try that chapter again.
I'm trying to only reset when I lose a person or am unable to follow the rules, to make it interesting. There's a good chance that I'll probably let a nondraftee die along the way.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadx8: I know, right? I just finished Chapter 13, and the Killing Edge is called "Schnitter", which literally means "Cutter", but Google translates to "Reaper". So awesome.
I may as well start a liveblog as well. Look for the German-titled one (Feuer Emblem).

I'm pretty much shoving non drafted characters into a corner, after confiscating everything.
:smug:Finished Chapter 13. I'll give it a liveblog update soon. It'll probably have a few less pictures because I forgot to do that many screenshots when I replayed the chapter.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI haven't posted chapter 13x yet because, one, I'm trying to turn my notes into something readable, and, two, I'm now deciding if I should do this as a liveblog like 4/6 people now are.
In the mean time, I've made a tally of everyone's stated turncounts thus far:
- Chapter 11
- hnd 03.................? turns
- Alfric....................8 turns
- Barrylocke...........? turns
- Xiphoniii...............9 turns
- montagohalcyon..8 turns
- Jonnas N.............8 turns
- Chapter 12
- hnd 03.................7 turns
- Alfric....................
- Barrylocke...........10 turns
- Xiphoniii...............
- montagohalcyon..6 turns
- Jonnas N.............5 turns
- Chapter 13
- hnd 03.................16 turns
- Alfric....................
- Barrylocke...........
- Xiphoniii...............
- montagohalcyon..10 turns
- Jonnas N.............7 turns
Apparently, having German characters is a significant advantage. Also, formatting this on the Web so it lines up without tabs is a pain.

Only the sun has stopped.Whatever the highest for chapter 11 is, add 3 turns for mine. Is that fair?
So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonNah, we can just fill it in at the end when the game says your turncount per chapter.
Only the sun has stopped. The problem is, it won't save my progress. Your saves are still there though. So I'm relying on save states to keep progress, which means I can't access my records at the end.
It's not a problem with your save file. All of your stuff is still there, it's an emulator problem.
