I love this game!

I really should beat it, sometime...

So as to start some actual discussion, which of the playable characters is your favorite?

Mine would probably either have to be Cube (Wally) or The Sundown Kid (Marst, I tried Marston but it wouldn't fit).

Hmmmmm, hard to say. I'd say it's probably, uh... the female kung fu apprentice. She probably has a name, but I forgot it! Samo(?) is awesome as well.

I kinda like the concept behind... uh, Akira-guy, but his whole story is just... weird as balls. What I really like, though, is the... Okay, I'm looking up those names now. The girl is Lei! And the awesome guy here is Matsu. I like how he sells these fish-shaped pastries and looks like a lanky weirdo but also throws punches that have an area of effect. Damn.

It's a real pain that Akira is so weak, though. Really, does he have any good skills whatsoever?

I also really like the concept and atmosphere of the Ninja chapter, even though it's a prime example of the game being filled with puzzles that are next to impossible to figure out or require stupid luck. Also has one of the best standard battle theme I've ever heard. But Oboro himself is kinda lacking in personality.

And then, of course, there's one of the most tragic characters in RPG history.

And man, who else feels like a jerk when you replay that chapter, this time knowing that it's basically your choice as to who gets murdered?

The hidden chapter makes me feel as much as a jerk, since by progessing, you're just getting the protagonist closer to his Despair Event Horizon.

I kind of wish there was a seperate ending for losing to Straybow in the tournament, since apparently that would've made everything better.

Favorite character: Right now it's divided between Yuan and the robot (forgot his name). Behind them comes Pogo, and then the other two martial artists! *sniff!* ='(

Favorite Chapter: The Future Chapter as of now. Might change in the near future! (lol! XD)

I can't wait to unlock the Medieval Chapter since everyone seem to have it quite high on their favorite chapter list.

I'm hoping for Square to remake this game actually, or release it on Virtual Console since it never left Japan... =(

It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.

Oh man. Yes. I'd officially request it to him if I knew how.

And he worked on The After Years? ...Not surprised, actually.

It'd be so great if we could get a full and official translation, maybe an extra superboss or two*

perhaps the extra ending that I mentioned wishing existed.

Oh, and the ability to replay chapters after unlocking the final chapter, without resetting the entire game.

Gimme. I thought the original game was a gem of concentrated potential and equal parts rough edges. Like a game made by a genius kid in his spare time to experiment with what he can do with the RPG Maker engine.

So yeah, a remake that polishes everything up, improves the graphics, makes certain fights less based on trial and error, makes it actually possible to find some of the secrets on your own, and so on... could be downright amazing.

Not unless you name the Xin Shan Quan Master the name you want the student to have.

And it makes sense. It's a symbolic passing of the torch thing, inside of gameplay and outside it.

I just finished the game, using Masaru as the eventual final protag, and the Kung Fu inheritor is Li. Spared Mad Dog. Pacifist run as Oboromaru.

Felt like finishing again to get some ending picture. So if I pick the Kung Fu inheritor, the 'The End' pic would be the old master or the inheritor? (Since I finished as Masaru, Masaru is in the The End pic)
