Dresden Files RPG (Interest):

The Sad Clown
So I was wondering how much interest there would be in a Dresden Files RPG. Players would create their own characters from the Dresden-verse, (human, wizard or other) and play through scenarios loosely controlled by a GM. Ideally it would largely be in keeping with the tone and style of the series. Any thoughts?

Oooh, this is relevant to my interests. We using the FATE RPG, or freeform?

Oooo. Interesting indeed. I definitely approve.

I've not actually got a copy of the FATE RPG, to my eternal shame, so it would probably have to be freeform.

Freeform is good too. Also, when will this be on the Dresden Files timeline, circa? I'm in favor of anywhere between Summer Knight and Turn Coat, myself. Setting it after Changes might be unfavorable, since that book shook things up to such a degree, especially since we don't know the state of things afterwards yet.
The Sad Clown
Yeah, I'd say just after Turn Coat. There's enough to work on there without the status quo being drastically changed, for example you have the Grey Council at the same time as the Red Court.

Sweet. Also, got any specific storyline in mind? If not, I thought it'd be nifty to play some low- to medium-level talent connected to the paranet somewhere, Las Vegas or something like that.
The Sad Clown
That was the kind of thing I was looking at as well. If we kept it fairly low-key, four or five players, then I think we'd have enough interest to go ahead.

What would the Gm be like? Would he actually post things and move the story along?

The way I see it, the GM would control NPC's, post to set up scenarios and provoke a response.

Sounds good. The reason I asked is because i've seen only a handful of good GM here; the rest are pretty shitty.

It's quite understandable to scope out a potential rpg before committing to it.

Well, if that's four people who have expressed interest then I could whip up a character sign-up, if that's alright?

Name: Felix Almon
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Status: "Hedge Wizard" (which is to say a single-talent magic-using mortal. Unaffiliated with the council)
Description: A rather tall, unassuming-looking man. Short black hair, usually hidden under a bandanna of some color or other. Apart from that, he tends to dress like someone who takes great care to appear unconcerned with his look and yet improbably cool. He gets it right rather seldomly.
Background: Felix grew up in a lower middle-class home in one of the more desserted places in Nevada. As soon as he could, he moved out, settling in the outskirts of Las Vegas, starting up a meticulous get-rich scheme, powered by his new talent, and the ability to manipulate kinetic force in a various subtle and not so subtle ways. A city full of games of chance would be ripe for the taking for one of his talents, especially if he acted smart about it. It went pretty well until an ambitious wildfae almost roped him in, forcing him to seek out the newly formed paranet for some hot tips about how to avoid his imminent demise.
Abilities/Equipment: Kinetomacy, the ability to manipulate kinetic force. His speciality is manipulating small objects, but if he's willing to do it less gracefully, he can also throw around a good bit of force. He focuses his power with a "lucky coin." He also carries with him some chalk and a set of dice at all times.

[up][up]What races/classes are there?

As many as are in the books. Wizard, focusing on any area of magic; Faeria Changeling; Werewolf; Mortal who happens to know a lot about the supernatural. If it's from the Dresden Files 'verse, and you can justify it, I'll consider it.

Edit: Also, Slowzombie, you look good to go. I'll contact the other people who expressed interest, to see if they're still up for it.

Dammit.

I have two possible choice I was hoping to go with. One is a Human Emissary to one of the dragons(have no idea what the benefits would be) and the other is pretty much a wizard mercenary who specializes in crafting various weaponry foci and other enchanted items.Do either fit approval as I might just merge them.

"You're a new kid on the block, young girls scream and old boys mock".
The Sad Clown
That certainly sounds managable, as long as the Dragon Emissary doesn't have anything close to the full power of the dragon. Why have a plot when everything can be nicely toasted...

I've done a couple drafts for a scion character, but they all end up sounding like Kincaid; damn my pragmatism.

I think I might go with a wizard.
