Present and ready to finish this up. I'll start with unpunctuated A.

EDIT: Finished up to Characters/BatmanArkhamSeries. More Batman follows.

For the "You" variant, finished unpunctuated A and B. Captain America: The First Avenger is next.

Next up is Catch and Return, 717 wicks left. I see a worrying trend of sinkholing this trope to places where people shoot stuff.

My nightmares with this cleanup concern the fact that, on works pages, I've run into alot of lumping of disparate uses into this one trope. I've sometimes had to split a would-be example into two or three tropes. This is probably the most nuanced Special Effort that the Special Efforts Unit has looked at thus far.

Ah.

So much for this being a quick one to burn through and use as a breather between the biggies.

Sorry about that.sad

Maddy, if it was a quick-and-easy fix, it wouldn't be in Special Efforts, would it?

Heh, I knew what I was signing up for when I decided to start doing more work in this subforum more regularly.

Special Efforts topics can be "quick and easy but also freaking hyooooge". That's what the Understatement one was. Each fix was simple, there were just 8000 of them to do. This one has only a tenth of the number, but each one is far more involved.

I do appreciate y'all sticking with it, though.

BTW: that Characters.Chronicles Of Conflict thing is really unclear. Can someone else take a look?

Well, when it's frickin' hyooj, it's not exactly quick. Yeah, each individual example of Understatement was pretty cut-and-dried when it came time to figure out whether it belonged, but when you end up plowing through over 8000 uses to cross-check, it ceases to be quick.

For the Chronicles of Conflict character page, that looks like someone is a bit too much in love with the word "subverted" - that's a Mundane Solution played straight.

EDIT: To me, the only part that's catching me is that, after we're done going through the wicks for Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?, we'll have to handle another 300+ for Why Don't Ya Just Shoot Him? - this is a thousand-wick cleanup overall.

Next up is Condemned, 704 Wicks for Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?, 343 for Why Don't Ya Just Shoot Him?.

Great and Powerful
So, I have a question.

On the Playing With Combo Platter Powers page, under "Discussed", I had "Why Don't You Just Shoot Him" potholed in the following sentence: "We tried (just shooting Amazing Girl), but it turns out she has the ability to turn bullets into cotton candy with her mind."

So, which trope should I be using to keep the joke working properly?

I wasn't sure when I removed it, but now I think it's Mundane Solution, or Combat Pragmatist.

Also, you want to cite to Immune to Bullets - the particular how of that trope's applicability can be noted elsewhere, but when one attempts the Mundane Solution and fails, that's where said immunity comes into play.
