Miraculous Ladybug has its own thread in Anime and Manga, I think.
All this talk of Executive Meddling and Development Hell makes me fear the same exact thing is happening to Tartakovsky's Popeye movie.
It's gonna happen in damn near any property based around a major franchise. The property owners have to be happy with it.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.No... A badass like Genndy doesn't deserve this noise - first Sym Bionic Titan, than this movie we're discussing. And now, future projects... Give this badass a chance to actually be one, you stupid execs!

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.Tartakovsky and Greg Weisman should sit down together and compare notes...
He must be staying with Sony for SOME reason. I expect Popeye to AT LEAST have the kind of respectable cartoon animation Genndy always had, and has brought to HT.
I expect that reason involves a big briefcase full of money.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatEvidently he's still looking for a way to finance a 2D Samurai Jack movie, the rights to which are still with Frederator Studios.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Yeah. I always fear hearing something like that, after what happened to Richard Williams.
Is Hotel Transylvania really worth seeing? I see mixed reception on some corners of the net, some like it, some hate it what do you guys reckon? I mean it IS done by the same dude who did Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack after all so I should like it right?
"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus PrimeI love it. But then, I may be biased since I love a lot of Genndy's previous work, and being an animator myself, the film has a lot of the types of animation and humor I like to use.
IMHO, a bit too sugar-sweet, I find its aesops dissonant and clueless, and the animation is a bit too troperiffic. That is to say, I could recognize a lot of those animation tricks and moves and tropes which I love in their 2D expression but which I find don't work all that well in 3D. Especially the Invisible Man; Genndy's "malleable glasses" jokes work very well in 2D, but in 3D you can't really appreciate their expressiveness.
Still, it was nice. Just, sort of like an Owl City song, you know?
Anyway, have some of Dexter's Rude Removal:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I liked it.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987The fact that Owl City is invading as many animated movies as he can means that your remark is by no means a coincidence.
Note: Owl City does not have a song in HT.

Oh, this song was on Wreck It Ralph, yes?
Anyway, it's not like I don't like OC, just, there's a time and place, and a Boy Meets Ghoul story is not one of those. Imagine if one of his songs had been used for, say, Edward Cissorhands. Or Twilight. Or...
Wait...
Twilight might have been dramatically improved by such an approach.
That's right, a sickeningly-sweet version of Twilight would be still a better love story than Twilight as we know it.
Also, damn, OC's songs are catchy. "Where was I when the rockets fell tonight, and carried me away over the alligator sky..."
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Didn't Stephanie Meyer admit that one of his songs helped inspire New Moon?
I wouldn't say he's "invading every animated film he can." He only did songs for Legend of the Guardians, Wreck It Ralph and The Croods. I don't count Escape from Planet Earth because it used a preexisting song.
Looking for some stories? Those are still 3 films right there.
I couldn't find a better place to tell this...
Genndy will not direct the fourth film.
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"Sad, but that's expected after seeing 2 and 3.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.
That Ladybug movie's looking pretty damn awesome, right about now! Where can we talk about that?? For some reason, after seeing that preview... I'm even more disinterested in saying anything about the legendary failure that is the main point of this thread, sadly...
