If you know anything about The Beach Boys and their lost album Smile, you know two things about it: one, Brian Wilson was convinced was that Phil Spector was out to steal his ideas, and two, that Paul McCartney walked in on a Smile session and contributed the sounds of him chomping on celery.

What many people don't know is that Brian was right; Phil Spector was trying to steal his ideas, and he paid Paul McCartney to get in on the sessions and act as a spy. Paul was supposed to take whatever ideas or music snippets he learned from Brian and bring them back to Spector.

But Paul was so inspired by what he heard that he high-tailed it back to Abbey Road Studios to apply what he had learned to The Beatles's own music, including Sgt. Pepper. Once Phil Spector found out he had been gypped, he tracked Paul down in London and had him killed, setting the body up to look like a car crash. In a fit of shock and panic, the rest of the Beatles found a lookalike for their lost bandmate, and the rest, as they say, is history, right down to the chantings of "I buried Paul" at the end of "Strawberry Fields Forever".

Paul didn't die, idiot. He was just given a robot body.

Talk to the hand.
