I third Sackett. Everything's Better With Humor.
@Sackett: Ok then. I have three questions. One- If the page is PG, what makes it that way? Is it the most basic elements, which is just a leg and a couple pieces of clothing, or does the matter in which something is discussed play a role in how it comes across? Two- Given that, often, men find young women attractive, are there any situations in which it is socially unacceptable for a man to talk about their attraction towards young women, lest someone get the wrong idea? Does the young women's age play a role in how it looks? How he talks about them? Who he is talking with? Three- If humor is, indeed, a better method of talking about things people are attracted to than sterile detachment, then... where are the jokes? In the current page, and rewrites #2 and #3, what humor does the page already have? The closest thing I've been able to find is the "Stop looking at us like that" line. Where are the rest?

Together Forever...Two is rather irrelevant to the topic at hand, and seems to be your personal soapbox issue.
ZzzzzzzzzzTropes aren't about real life. We don't write or rewrite trope pages based on what would happen in Real Life if you did it. Tropes are story-telling conventions. We are concerned with how they're used in storytelling, not what would happen if you did it in Real Life. At the most, that's worth a brief note, and in most cases not even that.
Half the work on any project is done the week before the deadline. The other half is done the week after.
Cure CandyWhen some star leaves the house into waiting paparazzi wearing ◊ (which is rank B.) though they are making some sort of fashion statement / tease.
Alpha LegionnaireHas it already been explained how this "ranking system" of kneesocks as a storytelling device is relavant to anything? Personally I think it's creepy.

the flies will find youRanking system's not a storytelling device, it's just a sliding scale/sorting algorithm the audience came up with. Personally I think it's amusing.

before the darkness arrives
Alpha LegionnaireThen it would make no sense to include it. Personally I think including a raking system to this kneesocks "trope" is (almost like the point of the entire trope page itself) wierd, creepy, pointless and embarrassing at best, but maybe I'm just speaking for myself.

...So it's meant to be a joke?
No, it's meant to be something akin to religion for otaku. (The difference is negligible for anyone who isn't involved, I know.)

I see. People have been saying that the description is meant to be humorous, but nobody's said where the jokes are.

The joke is that there are weeaboo/Otaku that really do get all serious business mode over a couple cm difference in how high someone's socks are. ...it's a really sad joke :(
I was kind of hoping for what the people who wanted to keep the grading system, et. al. thought was humorous about it.
I think the humor is in the "Stop looking at us like that" line, and the fact that we're well aware of how dorky it is. It isn't a joke in the sense "we put jokes in the page, " the fact that we put all of that analysis into the page is what the people who want to keep the page find funny. Never said it was a good reason for keeping stuff, but troper humor has always been rather incomprehensible.
But that line still works, even without the grading system. In fact, it's plausible that someone who is just learning about the existence of this trope, they'd find it to be absurd enough on its own, that an outfit consisting of a short skirt and long socks is wildly popular among otaku. And there's the trope page, stating all this matter-of-factly, with a reminder that TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life, that now you know this factoid of anime and manga subculture, and you can't unlearn it. Ha! ...And then they notice the grading system, and the lovingly detailed descriptions, and the entries that express disappointment whenever a character is just shy of "Grade S Tsundere", and those other entries about iCarly and the Disney Channel, and they realize that it's not a joke. It's the "Just Joking" Justification for an obsession. * I could be wrong, of course, but this would have required me to have missed the other jokes carefully hidden throughout the page.

The article could probably be improved by not linking to the off-site article that describes ZR in an even more creepy fetish fueled way than the original tvt article.
Eh... maybe there's one that's a bit more palatable than this guy? The current page had two blogs, and I thought that this was the better of the two, but maybe that's only by comparison? Hm. The link to that other blog was cut. Ok, it was just moved. So, um, yeah, something better than these.

Yeah both of those are a terrible mix of smug "other cultures just don't understand this superior fashion I see in my animes", and general creepy fetish stuff.
Who you are does not matter. The ranking system is in there because it's commonly enough discussed with the trope in question that removing it would significantly reduce the usefulness of the article for gaining comprehension of wtf this is about. Not to mention the grading system is referred to at least a few times elsewhere in the wiki, turning its inclusion into the trope equivalent of Required Secondary Power.
"Who I am does."
We should put the in-depth analysis in the...analysis tab, so we don't have to put an outbound link in the description. That being said, the grades still need a description on the main page.
The only grades that need mentioned though are B, A, and maaaaaybe C.
I think S might merit a mention if we don't split it off.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
S is just A with two more fetishes added in.
Which is why the article should mention it; otherwise, the obvious conclusion would be that any mentions of grade S on the wiki would be longer socks.
