A Game of Gods: Infinities

Go To

It has been a year since the final challenge took place.

It has been a year since the traitorous creature known as Omega was exiled to a place of void an nothingness. It has been a year since an unlikely group of beings fought their way free from the clutches of their captors, the enigmatic Nomads, who had forced them to take part in a bizarre series of competitions for their own amusement. And it seemed that, for a time, the Nomad's machinations had ended, and the people of the myriad realities were free to live their lives free of divine interference.

They were wrong.

Now, a year after the final Challenge, strange new forces are beginning to conspire. Old and new beings alike will find themselves caught up in a brand new quest for survival and freedom among unlikely backdrops, a quest that will bring them to the edge of... infinity.

Hello, and welcome to the signup thread for A Game Of Gods: Infinities. First of all, thanks for taking an interest in the thread, and I hope you'll sign up for this game. As the old Forum RP hands are familiar with, all the standard rules apply- autohitting, godmodding, ghosting, metagaming, etc. are unacceptable like in any other game.

Challenges

The basic premise of the game is quite similar to last season, with a group of heroes and/or villains taking on challenges, often pitting them against heroes or villains from another universe. To begin with, we will be working through a glut of challenges leftover from the previous round, but after that people will be able to suggest and implement their own challenges.

This season, Two challenges will usually run at once. A secondary challenge will takeplace alongside the primary challenge, giving new layers something to do or an alternative to the primary challenge. This may affect what happens to your character in the long run, so choose wisely!

If you have an idea for a challenge, feel free to consult any of the GMs: Stratofarious, Troydenite and Flanker66. Remember, if nothing else, please try to keep challenges brief and manageable! 2 weeks is the maximum time a challenge should take, and please be sure that you or someone else will be able to see it through to completion.

Signups

  • Name (obvious)
  • Appearance: (Link or avatar is fine)
  • Universe: (Series they hail from, preferably a timepoint within the series as well.)
  • Personality:
  • Abilities/Powers: A list of the various things your character can do. Remember, characters should be at at 2 or under at the Super Weight scale.

Some people may recieve a PM telling them that they're allowed to play as an OC, an original character. Please don't ask if you didn't get a PM right away, you may get a chance to switch characters later on if you want.

And that's about it. We hope that you sign up and get ready for another round of cation, adventure, and drama!

The adventure begins on July 24th, so be ready for Infinities!

I wish to join, but I have a question: Would it be possible to use two characters if they're nearly inseperable and only one of them does the fighting most of the time? I wish to play as Jak And Daxter, if anybody wants to ask.

Thanks right:

  • Name : Makuta Teridax from the melding universe.

  • Image: Just google it...I don't know how to establish hyperlinks.

  • Weapons, Tools, Abilities: Teridax from the melding universe is the exact opposite from his self in the matoran universe, he prefers hand to hand combat and wields a deadly warhammer. he has rejected the path of shadow, banishing shadow from his essence and gaining minor light abilities such as absorbing light.
He retains the power to teleport and hurl chain lightning but has forsaken all other Kraata powers. He wears the Mask of shadows to confront his worst enemy everyday: Himself.

Bio: He is the closest thing to a nice Makuta, being not so arrogant but he has not lost the ability to plot in advance. He has all the qualities of the Toa, liking to what he says is the fire to warm and comfort to the fire that burns and destroys.

He is from the Bionicle universe.

Woah, put the breaks on there Ud. We just had a player removed from TOTG because characters they claimed inseparable were judged to be so.

Jak and Daxter are moreso inseparable than they were, though

Ok, then. Here goes:

  • Name(s): Jak and Daxter
  • Universe: ... Jak and Daxter; in this case, about a month after Jak 3
  • Appearance: Here. Jak's the guy with the gun, Daxter's the small orange weaselthing.
  • Abilities: Jak has the ability to harness and utilize Eco, the life energy of his universe. In short, green heals, blue speeds him up, red makes him stronger than normal, and yellow lets him shoot energy blasts. Of course, he needs to have a type of Eco around in order to use it, so these won't be used often, if at all. However, recent events in his ife have allowed him to use two other types of Eco: the poisonous Dark Eco, and its counterpart, Light Eco. The use of these Eco types result in two different [1]s, each with their own purposes; Dark Jak mainly does massive damage to everything around him, while Light Jak is more passive. I can detail these further, but this post might be getting rather long. Jak also is good with the use of vehicles and weapons, specifically his Morph Gun. At the beginning, it'll have four modes, each with their own types of ammo: Scatter Gun, an Eco shotgun; Blaster, a Jack-of-all-trades rifle; Vulcan Fury, a machinegun; and the Peace Maker, a rarely used gun that shoots powerful balls of electricity that can separate in case of multiple enemies. Daxter is often able to get into places that Jak can't due to size.

hey you.

yeah you.

i'm joining dis.

but just one question. i'm going to be playing as an animorph. anyone familiar with the series knows that their morphing ability has crazy potential so long as they touch the target. much as i'd love to play as one, there's a lot of danger involved in that.

would you rather i nerf it? because i can.

  • Name: Cletus "The Courier" Moore
  • Appearance: A middle-aged man with extremely messy black hair- seriously, try finding a comb after a nuclear war. His eyes are a bit more wide set than most, and he has small ears. He obviously doesn't wash up very often, given the dirtiness of his skin. Has a Badass Moustache, but usually wears Ranger Combat Armor to intimidate foes. He's much stronger than he looks, able to carry around 300 pounds before staggering.
  • Universe: Fallout (New Vegas. Pre-final battle.)
  • Abilities/Powers:
    • A high Perception and Intelligence score allow him to use Awesomeness by Analysis and pick up on personality quirks or me.
    • A decent strength score lets him haul about 200 pounds of stuff.
    • Depending on his mood, he can be very charismatic or VERY scary. He can't do "scary" around children or the innocent for fear of emotionally scarring them.
    • Excellent at repairs on guns and electronics.
    • He's a very skilled in field surgery and psychology. He can also diagnose sicknesses.
    • Can't use full-auto weapons due to problems with his left wrist. Makes up for this by being good at hand-to-hand combat.
    • His armor provides a decent amount of protection from claws and blades.
    • Comes wielding a Power Fist and 9 millimeter pistol. Also carries around a sledgehammer for intimidation purposes.

I hope this is alright. He's a Courier who ended up with the Messiah Karma rating. He's a good guy, he's just in a world with Grey-and-Black Morality. He's the Grey.

...and that's terrible.

For the uneducated, I shall endeavour to explain: the Animorphs are a group of human teachers who came into contact with an alien machine known as the escafil device—or as they call it, the Morphing Cube—and gained the ability to acquire the DNA of any DNA-based living organism by touch; once they have done so, the Animorphs can then morph into that particular creature, retaining their minds and—in most cases—control over their altered bodies and actions. As the kids can only acquire DNA from whatever they can get their hands on, they are limited to earthly animals for their morphs—but in the right hands, earthly animals can be quite powerful.

There are limitations to this technology, however; most notably, an Animorph cannot remain in any one animal form for any longer than two hours—otherwise, their transformaton becomes permanent and they are unable to morph at all ever again (except in special circumstances). The andalite term for this is a nothlit. Also, one cannot simply morph from one animal form to another instantaneously; one must first return to one's original form, and then morph into the next animal you wish to become. Finally, there is the risk of being overwhelmed by the instincts of certain animals; prey animals can instill the morphers with overwhelming fear, making concentration difficult if not impossible, and ants...-shudders-

-shrugs-

General rule of thumb in Animorphs is that, if it's alive and not something ridiculous, like an alien monster made out of living ice or ambulatory rock, you can acquire its DNA and morph into it. Hell, you should see Visser Three; the man is a veritable walking menagerie of bizarre alien monstrosities.

Well if I'm interpreting Star Craft's campaign selection screen correctly, neither the Zerg nor Protoss have DNA.

Which is weird.

can't speak for Protoss, but the Zerg is technically a virus more then anything. They take a species and mutate them, twisting them to fill some sort of niche before saving that specific DNA strain. They then can use their larva to evolve into that specific strain and become that creature.

Actually, I was wrong; Visser Three did morph into a rock monster at one point.

You should check out that artist's gallery, by the way; it's filled with some high-quality and very accurate depictions of the many, many exotic aliens species featured in Animorphs. Anything with 'Visser:' in the title is something that Visser Three has turned into at some point.

eh, despite that i'm going to try anyway. as sullen frog had put it, there are many limitations put on the ability.

SOCR: you know...when you put it that way, i suppose not. the general rule of thumb is that anything living is alright, but the zerg and protoss are...unique.

  • Name: Tobias Fangor (possibly, in another timeline)
  • Appearance: CAAAW CAAAW and when he's in human form he's quite an attractive looking young boy with dirty blond hair...you know, when he's not filthy after being dunked into the toliet bowl. I'd give you a link but they're all kinda...ick.
  • Universe: Ani Morphs. (Specifically this is after The Solution and the Hork-Bajir Chronicles but before The Pretender, so he isn't aware that Elfangor is his father.)
  • Abilities/Powers
    • Tobias, much like his fellow Animorphs, is capable of morphing into any DNA-based creature he acquires via contact. Both the acquiring and the morphing take a bit of time and concentration, but once something has been acquired it can always be used again. There are a few conditions and setbacks to this ability, though - for one thing one cannot be in a morph for more than two hours or they are stuck in it as what the Andalites call a nothlit and cannot morph again. Tobias was one such of these people, becoming stuck as a red-tailed hawk, but by intervention was given the ability to morph again. However, it was made very clear that this would NOT happen again for him. Another is that one can't go from one morph to the other; they must go through their default form and back. The last setback is that while their mind is usually intact, the instincts of the creature are still within the morph itself. In some cases, the instinct can be overwhelming and difficult to control. While it isn't a setback, the Animorphs had decided that it really wasn't okay acquiring the morphs of sentient creatures without their permission. In very dire cases this might be broken, but in normal cases it probably won't be for Tobias.
      • One more thing I forgot to mention. In a morph a person is capable of doing something known as thoughtspeech. Thoughtspeech is basically telepathy except it has a range and those not in morph can only hear them and not transmit them. Tobias is basically always capable of thoughtspeech due to his unique nature as a morphing nothlit.
    • The List of Morphs He Has (As Of This Timeline)
      • Cat (Dude, his pet cat)
      • Red Tailed Hawk (He's stuck like this, sorta.)
      • Raccoon
      • Hork-Bajir (Ket Hapek) (To be a little more specific, a Hork-Bajir is basically a giant ass tall green bipedal lizard covered in horns and spines. The Yeerk use them as shock troops, but in reality they are a docile and ...innocently dumb race.)
      • Human (Himself, durr)
      • Horse
      • Dolphin
      • Hammerhead Shark
      • Housefly
      • Mole
      • Bat
      • Mosquito
      • Deinonychus (Due to a PIME TARADOX he cannot use this.)
      • Seagull
      • African Elephant
    • Tobias is a red-tailed hawk; while he was once a human, now he can only morph back to one. Because of this, he's gotten fairly used to his newfound default form and is fairly sharpened to its senses. Flight, super sight, all that jazz. Normally he's used as a scout on the team, seeing how his fairly discreet morph and senses lend him well to this.

i'd give you a bio and all but uh...i'm pretty sure you don't want to hear the sad story of emohawk.

if there's anything that needs to be nerfed, don't hesitate to tell me!
