Dont Explain The Soap does make me think of this trope much easier. The current name made me think it was something about Generic Gag Gifts.

I made a single proposition rename crowner here
and I agree with renaming the trope, partially because of its use of trope as a placeholder and partly because I think the title is fairly nonindicative.
I do not have many ideas for new names though. Explaining the Soap I guess is a basic one with Sucked Into Soaps probably only fitting the common variant. I do not think that either works that well.

The wicks were fixed, Soap On A Trope is now a redirect for Explaining the Soap, and there are notes about the change on the Renamed Tropes page and in the renamed tropes thread.
I think some of the wicks seemed to be examples of related tropes like Soap Opera and Daytime Drama Queen, so I tried to move them as was appropriate. I might have made a mistake in doing than or in another part of the rename process, so it might be a good idea for someone to check my work here.

Okay, seriously? What kind of a name is "Soap On A Trope" to describe a character explaining the plot of a soap opera? It has absolutely nothing to do with the trope, and it uses the word "trope" as a placeholder, which I thought we weren't supposed to use. I'm a member of FORKS, and even I find it overly original.
I think a better name would be Dont Explain The Soap. It's still a pun, but it's one that actually makes sense and relates to the trope.
I wonder what's for dinner?
