I'm fairly sure that, with the exception of Blueblood and the Princesses, no one in Canterlot actually has a title. The entire Canterlot nobility thing, far as I can tell, is mostly fanon.

And i'd take Blueblood at his worst over Discord at his 'best', for the record. Heck, overall, I'd take Canterlot's population over the Mane Six. I like how the Gala was.

Also due to most Americans, due to not really having any direct experience with it. Pretty much taking 'nobility' to simply apply to any rich people in a medieval setting.

So, Handle, you'd take a complete monster chaos god who treats sapient beings as playthings over a snobbish jerk?

Also, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie and Fluttershy were horrid little jerkasses during the Gala. None of the other guests, save Blueblood, were in any way shape or form jerkish or wrong. When Lyrica Lilac tells Pinkie the Gala, "isn't that kind of party" she's right! It wasn't that kind of party, but they destroyed it because it didn't live up to their rather childish fantasies.

I'll give Twilight, Rarity and to a lesser extent Applejack, a pass. But the other three? Jail time for them.

Once is enough for me, and the only time he wasn't at least a monstrous asshole was the very end of season four.

Fluttershy didn't do anything to try and destroy the Gala. That just resulted from her actions elsewhere spilling over, which, she gets a little slack for. CMFIS and all that, not really rationale.

RD also, not so bad. Yeah bit of a jerk to some of the ponies but still fine.

Pinkie, just trying to break the snotty, stuck up pricks out of their snobbery.

When even Tia hates the damn thing, yeah it needed something like that.

Or, really, any time he's shown up since the first time. yeah he's a bit of a jerk, but at the same time he's still been rather likeable. He's a troll, but he's not really doing it to hurt others.

Snobby stuck up 'elite' are just useless wastes of.. all the resources they waste simply to have to qualify as 'elite'

But was there any indication that the ponies actually properly attending the Gala disliked it? No, they rather seemed to enjoy being fancy and networking, just like Rarity did in Sweet and Elite. Celestia was just trying to cure her boredom, not trying to fix a problem.

CMFIS is a fanon term with some basis in the show. And you remember her driving the animals into the party and causing all that chaos? Because I sure as hell do!

She was causing physical assault and intentionally causing accidents in order to satiate her attention whore tendencies. Boo-frigging-whoo the Wonderbolts didn't pay 100% attention to her!

They weren't snobby. That is your interpretation based on zero evidence from the actual show. It was a formal function and did NOT need livening up.

1. I don't care if she doesn't like it or not. Boring to her is not a reason to destroy it. 2. Why not, I don't know, ask the others to liven it up? Or not go in the first place? 3. Her not liking it means little to me when the entire rest of the party likes it.

No, he's not likeable. And him hurting others might not be the main intent, but he doesn't give damn one if others are hurt, so long as he gets his jollies.Also, seaosn four, teaming with Tirek and basically stealing the souls of the population of Equestria? yeah, complete monster.

Post proof that any of them are snobby, barring Blueblood, Jet Set and upper Crust. Why, because they like a fancy party? or that any of them are wastes of resources or even... nobles.

My headcanon is that a lot of the upper class jerks we see are Nouveau Riche. Sure, they're jerks, but that's more because of a misdirected desire to fit in than actual maliciousness.

You could probably get some fic mileage out of that—the upper class only acts the way they do because they're trying to impress royalty like Celestia. But over time Celestia got sick of it, and by then it was too late to simply discard all the protocol she had made over the years. So now she has to pretend to enjoy being extremely formal even though she secretly hates it. Princess Celestia Hates Tea kind of sort of did that already, but it was obviously much narrower and played the And I Must Scream situation for comedy rather than heartbreaking drama.

Given how formal Luna is after getting back, it's not completely far-fetched.

Princess Celestia attempted to tackle the topic of the Wealth Gap, which she said was 'the defining issue of our era', but immediately backed down in the face of overwhelming accusations of fostering 'class warfare'.

Princess Celestia has the toughest job in Equestria. Luckily, she's also the toughest mare.

But, just between us, anything concerning Blueblood isn't 'class' warfare, it's crass warfare. The guy is about as classy as John Burgundy.

Yeah, I'd personally find the Gala kinda boring, but aside from Blueblood being a jerk, there didn't seem to be any indication that the other ponies were being snobby or were even bored by the events. The Mane6 only had issues because their expectations of what the event was supposed to be like were completely wrong. Celestia is bored, certainly, but I'd think that one night of shaking hooves would be worth the PR.

At no point does it ever come off as her 'driving' them into it. Not on purpose. They were imply running away from her, and chased them, nothing says she deliberately sent them into the gala. That was just an accident. Yeah she was wrong, but hardly doing anything that bad. based on their entire attitude. And "formal function" outside of those with a direct point to them, wedding, funeral, graduation, award ceremony etc..., who's only point is to BE a formal function. Pretty much needs livening up by definition. Which she never intended, just liven it up a bit. the mane 6 simply performed beyond her best expectations. If that would have worked, it would have been done already. And given how big an event it is, likely she simply can't without creating even more issues with the snobbish bores that would take it as an insult. The only reasons things like that exist is for the rich and famous to get together and show off to each other how rich and famous they are by virtue of being there. "Fun" isn't really on the agenda. Done as a reaction to Tirak perfectly playing on his own inner doubts about his reformation and what it means, while t the same time, clearly coming to regret it well before Tirak betrays him. if he was a Complete monster, he wouldn't care, which he clearly did.
