No, EA had it coming for a long, long time. No one in the hacking spree but EA deserved it the most. So, this is not old

[up][up]You have got to be kidding me.... that kind of attitude is what lead to these crimes.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

Believe me, I would've yelled a lot at JAF for his very blatant Sony hate or stuff, but you don't see me act out of spite in all these hacking news. Hacking into any company in itself is a crime, but the act of hacking was all out of spite, and therein lies a lesson

Should companies treat customers as they are or are they right in continuing to think that customers are goldfishes? Even moreso for EA, a company that had degraded considerably before year 2000 while roots of executive idiocy ran deep

I wouldn't really mind that attitude if the customers were unharmed.

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

So, Cassie, it's okay that thousands of people may have had their personal info compromised because the target of the attack was EA?

EA isn't as bad as they were last gen, so they don't deserve it.

However, by now there is an army of people working to hunt down these people, so I feel a bit safer.

^^ From the article:

The video game publisher posted a set of questions and answers on its website addressing the attack, which hit a server for EA's Bioware studio in Edmonton, Canada. The hacked website was associated with the fantasy game "Neverwinter Nights."

and

"Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from accounts on the server system associated with Neverwinter Nights may have been compromised," the company said on its website.

(Emphasis mine)

Not if you're not doing anything regarding NWN, no.

It's not like I sit well with it in any context. The info compromising part always offends me. If by a chance, it could be accomplished in a way without harming the 'vital' details of other people around the globe, THEN I am happy

Strange that I've never used NWN, but I am associated with EA through Bad Company 2, and I wake up this morning to find that my MSN, and therefore my XBL account to which I signed up to EA, no longer works.

How about this.

I disagree with the hacking, and I hate the hackers...But if they hacked the personal information of JUST the bigshot ceos who do all the crappy marketing decisions I wouldn't be as upset.

And Kotick.

I would not be happy with anyone getting hacked unless they're terrorists or something.

If you wish ill on others, it may come to you instead.

Unauthorized hacking is a crime, no matter who the victim is.

You say that like there's authorized hacking.

Actually there is, a company can hire hackers to hack their own programs and patch them up to increase security.

The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

Yeah, there's various steps though you have to take to avoid hiring a hacker that will leave an intentional backdoor to use, but then again, that goes for anything where you have programmers.

Yeah: think of it as "playtesting" your security system.

Man, another one? Who's keeping count? Is it just EA, Sony, and Nintendo, or have there been others?

It's like some sort of anti-video game crusade. It must be Jack Thompson!

Bethesda has also been hacked. I don't remember if there were others.
