Hi all,

I'm currently working on an image-based LP for Saisei Hen that I'd like to share.

http://www.saint-ism.com/lets-play-super-robot-wars-z2-saisei-hen/

I know there's quite a few playthroughs already but I like to think I'm trying something a little different. For each stage I'll try to create what I call an "Arranged Battle Scene" which is where I basically cut the battle footage to create a seamless battle scene, like the following:

Only up to stage 32 at the moment, the reason for being so slow is that these videos take ageeees to edit :(

Thanks

I would like to share this with everyone here. This exists. There are two other videos. This is actually happening.

[up]I don't know about you but that cast list almost seems...a bit too much. I'm hard-pressed to think of popular shows that aren't in that. And most of them are pretty setting intertwined things there, not shows to be thrown in lightly. There's gotta be, you know, focus to a plot. From that one scene alone, I can more or less determine the setting can only be pure incomprehensible chaos. Plus, this comment from the creator:

"Actually we are planning on using most of the plots! The way we got it setup is that there's at least 3 Main Alternate Universes, An Alien Infested Attacked Earth, A Humanity Exploring The Galaxy with a Used Up Partially Flooded Earth, and a Traditional SRW Style Earth which may or may be after the events of SRW 4. The main game would involve a Merge World plot similar to the SRW Z Series but we're still deciding if each world should get it's own game if we decide to make SRW V it's own Series."

The only way this could really work would inevitably involve the game being incredibly long, which would be fine, except SRW isn't a game that has the kind of varied and diverse gameplay needed to carry a lengthy game. And keep in mind this is a fan-game, so the mechanics are liable to be even more sparse.

And plus...uhm, we know absolutely nothing about Valvrave. So it's hard to imagine there's a story designed with it in mind in existence.

I'm just dubious at this, mostly.

Why do you fight? Why do you exist?

I'm staying optimistic about it, they're enthusiastic, they've been posting updates every so often and if it takes a long time to develop then that's a good thing in my mind.

I've been playing SRW Advance recently.

Jerid is a DICK in level 4.

Are we allowed to talk about Endless Frontier here, or does the game have it's own topic?

I dunno. Probably. In any case, I'm getting a lot more use out of the Baronz than I did last file. Especially since Iiko and Jonathan can both use Chakra Extension with Yuu, while the only other BP unit I use regularly (Hime) doesn't AFAIK have Chakra Extension with anyone but Yuu. She's still good, but less versatility once the Baronz are recruited.

[up]Alright then.

Let me just say that I'm annoyed that the sequel was never brought over.

Why skip that game but still do Project X Zone, which takes place after the sequel for Haken and Kaguya?

Hell, why not do the second game at all, since I thought the first one did pretty well?

Edit: Also, what do you think are the chances that Captain Earth and Aldnoah.Zero will find there way into a future Super Robot Wars game?

I don't watch either of those, so I couldn't really tell you. It'll probably be some years in the future, but they probably have better odds than any of the Brave Series other than GaoGaiGar.

So I'm playing Alphid Gaiden and all of a sudden OMG I GET JUDAU AND PURU IN MAP 2 and holy shit Quatre sounds strange to me when not voiced by Brad Swaile.

Eagerly waiting to recruit Loran and Garrod...

GUYS I'M STUCK IN ALPHA GAIDEN AND I CAN'T ADVANCE SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

On the one hand, I can go do Turn A Gundam plot.

But if I do that, it means giving up After War Gundam X plot.

I... I can't make a decision like this on my own!

I can't help you make that decision, but I can give you some advice for the future:

You will never, ever be prepared enough for the final six stages. I mean it. New Game Plus hadn't been introduced yet, so no cash carryover.

Other than Great Mazinger, Shin Getter Robo, and prolly Zeta Gundam, any particular recommended units?

Sanger when you get him. Other than that, I can't really remember anybody who was good. The R-1 custom might be okay.

As cool as it is having combiner units being able to separate and act on their own, NEVER DO THIS. THEY WILL BE KILLED. The only ones who were remotely useful in this state weree in Alpha, but not this game (Shin Getter was one of them, but I'm not sure if it still has that option)

Other than Cybuster (which is still a stretch), I wouldn't bother using any of the masoukishin series units (Including the Valsione here) beyond the chapters that need them. They occupy that terrible blurred space between Super and Real, not beefy enough in offense or defense for the former, not nearly evasive enough for the latter. They're not worth the risk if you're like me and reset the stage when any unit is shot down. tongue

Depends on the circumstances. If I'm confident I can get through the map without the unit, I live with it. If I know I'm boned without that unit, then yeah, I restart.

I already know not to disassemble the combiners.

Cybuster was one of my mains in OG 1 (along with Weissy, Giganscudo, and of course the Alt), but Alpha Gaiden obviously enough isn't OG 1.

Still haven't picked Alpha Gaiden back up yet, but in the meantime, taking another go at OG 1. Since the last hundred times I started it up, I went ATX route, I guess I'll take a stab at SRX route this time.

On the one hand, it's going to be really, really weird not being able to deploy Alteisen or Weissy. On the other hand, it's been a long, long time since I had a chance to deploy Latooni.

... Incidentally. I know it's backwards because OG came out a few years before J, but at the start of the SRX route, the Nurse that checks up on Ryusei's mother really looks like Calvina Colounge IMO.

Anyway. Currently up to the map where Latooni pilots a Gespenst in a goth-loli maid outfit.

I am now on chapter 22 of OG 1's SRX route.

I can't believe I had forgotten how much I love the crap out of Latooni.

Dunno why, but maybe you'd not be trying to do the Masou Kishin subseries, because apparently the producer thinks that Masaki's OTP is with Wendy.

Oh. My. God.

Chapter 39 of OG 1 was brutal ._.

Although in hindsight, I really should've just sent the Hagane to the drop point ASAP, instead of making a point to destroy every single enemy ship on the map first. Oh well, at least I have lots more cash and pilot points to show for it...

Fuck Septuagint. Fuck it with the Alt's Heat Horn. I mean, I did manage to go ahead and clear the map after letting myself die twice (after clearing everything else on the map) so I could get some more cash and upgrades and stuff, but still. I had long forgotten how BS SRW final bosses can be...

ANWAY, I cleared SRW OG 1, SRX route!

Now I'm not sure if I'm going to do it again ATX route, or go back to Alpha Gaiden for a while, or maybe take another reset of SRW J...

Since OG 1 doesn't appear to have a New Game Plus feature like J did, I suppose I'm going to take a stab at SRW Advance now. Real Robot route, with Lamia as the protagonist. Picking the blue mecha, since it looks more badass than the red one IMO.
