This hat doesn't fit!I'm actually surprised at how well the Steam overlay integrates with games that use services like EA Online or Games For Windows LIVE. If I need my Product Key, I can simply bring up the Overlay easily. Also, can we use this thread to post our Steam nicknames?
rrrrrrrrrApparently another thread has been produced for handling steam names. :p Anyhow, I'm running into a bug for the Mac version that I can't find any information on through simple searches. Every time I close down Steam (and I mean every single time), it freezes my computer for about half a minute. Won't respond to clicks, keyboard input, or anything else for that time, though the cursor can still move around. Graphics also freeze. No idea what effect it would have on audio. It's very annoying, and I'd like very much for it to stop doing that.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.
This hat doesn't fit!Odd, maybe they'll fix it.
JerkSeems like a lot of work to fix a bug that afflicts like what, seven people world wide?

YEEEEAH— no.Bumping this thread to ask a small question— if I have the retail version of a game (in my case, Peggle), is it possible to activate that game on Steam? Just out of curiosity.
"I've come to the conclusion that this is a very stupid idea."
Fastest Thing Alive.Thread bump. Puzzle Pirates is now on steam. Yarrrr.
I believe so, blueeyedrat. I bought Just Cause 2 hard copy the other day and steam authenticated it by default during installation. I'd have a poke around on the steam forums and see what they say, though.
Yes and no. See here for retail games you can activate in Steam
L'AffinitéAnyone know how much of a cut Steam takes on non-Valve games?
10%, I believe.
L'AffinitéMind if I ask how you know? I was trying to look for such a number by searching their site and searching Google and I haven't found it.
Hmmm...honestly, I just heard it somewhere, so take it with a grain of salt :P I know that a developer makes more from a Steam purchase than from a retail purchase, though.

L'AffinitéMagicka is currently free-to-play until Monday, as well. ^ Darnit, I posted in the other thread announcing discounts on Aquaria and Braid, but you got to this one first.
L'AffinitéThough yeah, we should probably support Steam / Valve anyway. why
Fuzzy Orange DoomsayerGeneforge is on Steam? GENEFORGE IS ON STEAM! (I don't even like the series that much, but it's basically a Biopunk Shin Megami Tensei. That's worth $20 for a 5-game set.)

That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something Awful
Need a quick answer guys. Right now they're selling Hydrophobia: Prophecy for only $2.29. Is it worth getting?
Finally uploaded myself an Avvie
L'AffinitéDamnit, it's $2.25 now. I got it when it was $2.99. (And actually paid $3.69 for it because it was bought by my friend in the UK and gifted to me; Steam charges higher prices in the UK for some reason.) That said, I don't know whether you should get it. It was not playable on my computer likely because my computer's specs are too low. The premise seemed interesting, and that's why I grabbed it.

This hat doesn't fit!I haven't heard great things about it, but...
Why is it whenever I go on Steam I end up buying something? ...so many sales...so many crazy cool sales...
L'AffinitéThey're just that good at marketing.
Fastest Thing Alive.Magicka get! (and all of those little DLC's too.)

?The Super Meat Boy sale annoys me, mostly because some of the characters with featured games (Gish stands out) aren't in the Steam version. Hell, Gish isn't even the PC version, and three of the games (Half-Life 2, World of Goo, and Gish) have characters that function the exact same way!

L'AffinitéThankfully, they're available for purchase separately.
