As per title. Have you ever found yourself liking the main PC(s) in a game more than any other character in the same title? This includes instances where the main PC(s) is(are) the only likable character(s) in the game.

I'll start this discussion excluding AFGNCAA Ps, Ren'ai blank faces and protagonists who are the only round characters in their games but they could be brought in later depending on how things go. I'm also expecting licensed game protagonists to be a bit iffy but I can roll with that.

I find that Bioware and Obsidian P Cs often steal the top spot in their games because of how hilarious or awesome many of the dialogue options are, and this is coming from someone who hasn't played any of the games.

JC Denton. What a shame cool.

But seriously, he's one of the more intelligent characters in the game and I really enjoyed his dialogues about society with the barkeep at the hong kong club or especially Morpheus

Kyle Katarn is so Bad Ass that in the Dark Side Ending of Academy, you beat him only so that you can escape from him. You have no hope of killing him.

I don't really think this has ever happened for me when the cast is ever large, what with the Standardized Leader thing... Oddly, when i think protaganists i like Amaterasu and Kirby come to mind. I can't really say them, though, because they never talk.

Hmm. Bayonetta and Dante are probably the best examples for me. They're just hilarious and awesome and it's rare i play a game without going "Wish i could try someone else for a change". And they're both designed by the same team, naturally.

Oh, and Snake. All of them.

The ones that come to my mind are Bayonetta, Terra and Lightning. Granted, the last two are arguable since their games don't really have a main character (arguably) but they are the closest thing.

Favorite protagonists? Well, I have to say, Golden Sun's Isaac was pretty cool for being a silent protagonist in his introductory game, and being the key to saving the world by failing in his duty.

Other than that...hm. The Nameless One from PS:T is an amazing character. There's so much to his history and origin story that really interests me. Especially the story Morte told about the Third Wish.

[up][up][up][up]That was one of the reasons why I made this thread. With all the Ensemble Darkhorses around I wanted to see more protagonists getting the spotlight they were written for. Good thing so many of them are still kicking.

FIFTEEN POSTS IN AND NO ONE'S MENTIONED COMMANDER SHEPARD!? YOU BASTARDS! SUCH DISINGENUOUS ASSERTIONS!

The Jedi Exile from The Sith Lords is also great too. He gets even better if played dark side.

Megaman in Power Battle. Haven't played enough Megaman to judge the whole series. Isaac and Agent G in House of the Dead. Samus is still my favorite bounty hunter in Metroid, even if I play as Weevil more in hunters.

I like Mario more than Luigi and though it is a good game, I still prefer Super Mario Bros to Donkey Kong Country. Kirby is my favorite character in the series but the playable Waddle Dee may change that later.

Despite being a product of Sony's meddling and hated by his own creators, I liked Spyro the Dragon more than anyone else in his game, though I haven't played the Sierra games.

[up][up][up][up]Main Player Character, my friend. Saxton Hale is unquestionably the awesomest anything in TF 2 but we wouldn't ever survive playing as him so let's leave him alone before we get hurt.

[up][up][up] I did mention Bioware and Obsidian main P Cs in my opening post. Those guys have a knack for fleshing out your leading man/woman/thing through their dialogue options.

[up][up]I was playing KOTOR 2 again, and after executing someone on Nar Shaddaa, I unlocked a dialogue with HK 47. Eventually one of the dialogue options was: "The next person that stops me from leaving a conversation is going to die."
