Discuss. Who won, who lost, who shoulda been there, has it changed opinions, what questions should they have been asked, etc, etc.

America lost. I didn't see it, but I'm playing the odds.

This is for the primaries for the political parties. Which themselves aren't till next year, but they like to start earlier and earlier.

It is indeed such a shame that the election season lasts so long in this country. Alas, I made the topic to get debate started on which candidate is most likely to progress or which candidate got shot down before it really started. Might be too early, but its good to have a topic started anyway.

That said, I made the topic title too vague. If a mod could modify it to Republican Primaries, I'd much appreciate it.

Can someone explain why the process starts so early? As someone looking in from the outside, it's bizarre that the U.S. presidential season seems to go for two whole years. The president barely has time to settle in and learn the ropes before the next one kicks off again!

Because people controlling the media realized it makes for good television and start pushing the politics VERY early to make it last a full two years.

My vote is with fire. The only candidate you can trust to root out corruption properly.

Someone I know said that the person that spoke the least won. Everyone else made an ass out of themselves.

But then again, there was nothing on TV last night. Either this or obnoxious Boston sports fans on NBC.

I saw a few clips on Conan. Michele Bachmann reminds me of a lot of Dixie Carter from TNA. And I feel sorry for those foster kids that have to put up with her shit.

I feel sorry for those kids because its not likely she gives them all her time and devotion. Some of them are gonna get lost in the crowd for sure...thats what I thought as soon as I heard her say how many kids she has....

No idea what Gingrich bothered.

And Ron Paul delivered 4,000 kids. And he's not even a doctor.

I think, based on the Twitter feed I read (Biased though it is) that Mitt Romney won.

And he lost. You know why? He considers it immoral to send disaster relief aid to the victims of the tornadoes.

KING: Governor Romney? You’ve been a chief executive of a state. I was just in Joplin, Missouri. I’ve been in Mississippi and Louisiana and Tennessee and other communities dealing with whether it’s the tornadoes, the flooding, and worse. FEMA is about to run out of money, and there are some people who say do it on a case-by-case basis and some people who say, you know, maybe we’re learning a lesson here that the states should take on more of this role. How do you deal with something like that?

ROMNEY: Absolutely. Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better.

Instead of thinking in the federal budget, what we should cut — we should ask ourselves the opposite question. What should we keep? We should take all of what we’re doing at the federal level and say, what are the things we’re doing that we don’t have to do? And those things we’ve got to stop doing, because we’re borrowing $1.6 trillion more this year than we’re taking in. We cannot…

KING: Including disaster relief, though?

ROMNEY: We cannot — we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids. It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we’ll all be dead and gone before it’s paid off. It makes no sense at all.

Cain and Pawlenty are considered to have lost.

Bachmann got publicity, though.

So let's see, sell out people today, and what do the children of the future have? Oh wait, nothing.

@ Deboss: It was a joke. I was just paraphrasing Andy Richter.

But honestly, I have a hard time believing he's a doctor since he wants to legalize heroin and heroin is one of the most addictive and deadly drugs out there. No sane doctor would allow for its legalization.

His political convictions mean more to him than the Oath. Tsk, tsk.

I did chuckle when Bachmann went on and on about reigning in the government but that we still should always "be in front" of all major foreign policy decisions and not let France take a leadership role.

My bad, didn't know you were making a reference. We should probably start using </obscure reference> more often.

Isn't one of the primary oaths they take about how a person has the right to refuse treatment and treat themselves like shit?

The more I watch the republicans the more I wonder why they pander to the base so much. Who the fuck else are they going to vote for? Go for the moderates who will actually win you the damn election.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

They went to the moderates with Mc Cain. Then Sarah Palin was brought in and that killed his chances.
