Guess That Trope. I know it isn't a brilliant metric, but in a case like this, it seems justified.

'twas brillig.

Something was aired in a limited market for a short time? Probably something apocryphal, or being played up because of/despite it's insignificance.

Let's see...

Hrrmm... A bit different as I was thinking of an in-universe type thing. Usage is low enough that I wouldn't hate a change, but damned if I can think of one that isn't stupidly long and descriptive.

All in all, I'd ignore this one unless a better name turns up. Forcing it would be a useless action.

I agree that the name is kind of strange. I do not think the usage is such that a rename is totally out of the question, but I am not so sure about this myself.

I made a single proposition rename crowner here. If the consensus is to rename the trope, I am hoping that the crowner process will help people think of good names for the trope.

That was probably a bit of a mistake, as some people can't tell the difference between, "We can rename this trope." and "We MUST rename this trope!!", and this looks like a case of the former to me.

If we do rename it, a potential title suggestion:

[up][up] Same applies to many tropes, but "we can think of a better name" isn't a reason to rename.

Let's see the stats... Short Run in Peru found in: 69 articles, excluding discussions.

This title has brought 51 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.

Random check of 10 wicks:

  • Bear In The Big Blue House: As mentioned before, the final episodes of the show aired in various markets outside the US three years before it was finally aired in the US. Correct
  • Drawn Together: The second half of Season Three, delayed by Comedy Central for almost a year, was broadcast in Latin America two weeks before the US. Correct
  • Kingdom: For some reason, Series 3 aired in Belgium six months before airing in the UK. Why? Why Belgium of all places? Nobody knows. Correct
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: [A reply to an example of LAS] It was over the internet before anyone who talked about it saw the episode. It aired in Dubai and this was about all the blurry screencaps could tell us. Natter, but nonetheless correct
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff/Music: * One source for the "big in Japan" variant of this trope is said to be supermodel Naomi Campbell. When asked how her album Babywoman was doing, she said, "Well, it's very big in Japan." She politely declined to say how it was doing in America. Incorrect
  • Slayers: Several video games were made, however, since they bombed out in Japan, they were never released overseas. Incorrect, refers instead to No Export for You
  • The Spectacular Spider Man: Canada aired the entire second season before the US even started on it. And then Disney put it on hiatus midway through... Correct
  • Unreal Tournament III: [Pothole in Bowdlerisation]]Shortly after the retail release, (a full week before the official shipping in USA/rest of Europe) a special version was made for Germany, which didn't have blood. However, the blood was later restored as of the first patch, which was out about a month after launch and several workarounds. Not certain but think this is incorrect
  • Strawberry Shortcake: Season 4 aired in Europe two months before it aired in Asia. For the fate of the show in the US, see Keep Circulating the Tapes and Screwed by the Network. Correct
  • I Am Not A Serial Killer: The book came out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan before coming out in the US April 2010. Correct

So that's 2 definitely incorrect, 1 probably incorrect, 7 correct.
