This afternoon I was pretty hungry, and found a box of Eggo microwavable chocolate chip mini pancakes in my freezer that were easy to make so I decided to grab a bag of three from it. Since it didn't say how long to put in the microwave for and they were frozen I put them in for 10 minutes. I eventually smelled something burnt and opened the Microwave door after about 7 or 8 minutes and what did I see in there? Three hard-as-a-rock pancakes that were burnt to black in the center. One even had smoke coming out of it. I'm laughing at it now, but when I first saw it I was like "OH SHIT!". Turns out I was supposed to put them in for 4 minutes and because I found that out my future attempts at heating up Eggo microwavable mini pancakes were successful. Feel free to post similar funny things like this that happened to you. My brother told me one time years ago he put a potato in the microwave and it exploded. Not like a bomb, but "explode" as in it bursted and went everywhere inside the microwave.

You can make potatoes in the microwave easy. Peanut butter and jelly as a 9 year old.

Please.

[up] You have to make sure to "vent" it by poking it a few good times with a fork.

I like to heat up a bunch, cover them in butter, and stuff them in my face whole.

Once my brother put oven-bakable tacos in the microwave for 50 minutes. We stopped it after about 10, when we smelled a lot of smoke.

Would you kindly click my dragons?

@snowfoxofdeath Let me guess, it exploded right? Thats what happens when you put an egg in a microwave. tongue (Saw a video of someone microwaving egg yolk too.)

Microwaves operate by vibrating the water molecules inside food.

Ovens operate by heating the air inside the oven.

Completely different ways of doing it. Don't mix it up.

Wow, today my father told me that the microwave we currently have is actually from 1985. Damn, works like a charm and heats new foods pretty well for a microwave thats from the 1980's. Its gotten a bit dirty from the 2 decades of use but still works pretty well. I'm still loling hard about that pancake incident from yesterday by the way.

When I was first in the Navy, we had the fire alarm go off one night at the barracks. Heading outside, the fire department has showed up, and is heading inside ... an hour later, they come out to inform us that everything has been taken care of.

Some idiot had to go on watch, and didn't have any clean uniform undershirts. So, he washed one in the bathroom sink, then put it in the microwave to dry it off. Naturally, it caught on fire after ten minutes in the microwave.

I once put a bunch of rolls wrapped in aluminum foil in the microwave in an absentminded moment. The sparks created were actually rather pretty, and no permanent damage was done except a burn mark on the door.

When I was a little kid still learning how to read, I tried to toast a bag of microwavable popcorn.

The fire proved to be easy to put out.

I have had yet another microwave fail when trying to heat up some Eggo cinnamon french toast. I put it in for 4 minutes assuming it would come out as good as the pancakes did when I put them in for 4 minutes. Big mistake. I smelled yet another burning smell and opened the microwave door. I saw burnt up french toast that was hard as a rock and had smoke coming out of it. 1980's Microwaves love to mess with me don't they?

Oh joy. I have this to look forward to, since my four-year-old knows that if you press some buttons and the button with the green letters, that the microwave turns on.

I'm waiting for mer to put her own stuff inside it and cook things.

The actual dilemma isn't that she did that, it's that I'll actually be proud of her for becoming just another step closer to self-sufficiency, despite her not being allowed to mess with it.
