That's a stupid idea. Though I wouldn't mind seeing a Wario game that's a parody of Shadow The Hedgehog.

A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

[up] I think Glowsquid was just being sarcastic, and I don't think I would like such a game.

Glowsquid, it's SUPER Mario Brothers.

Also, I don't want to be hostile at all. I just have opinions. I think as long as every aspect of the Mario game is intact, a new villain will be just fine. I think that Bowser's disappointing post-Paper Mario 1 plots (though the Galaxy plots are nowhere near disappointing, but I think the good guys could have stopped it and should have been aware of his lust for Stars) are a better excuse to replace than K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country Returns. If there would be Bowser games, I think if they program the Wii U to have remotes shaped like claws for fighting or something they can do stuff to make it addictive or fun for action-game-lovers. If the Mario games are the same otherwise and nothing more is gained, I think could be good for older gamers who've grown up on the Mario games. These don't matter if Nintendo rejects them. It's all just opinions, so there's no need to be hostile.

Also, in terms of Bowser being an occasional ally of his enemies and despite his selfish reasons, unwittingly proving slightly capable of some goodness, the Kart and Sports games have nothing to do with that. I never count those. In my opinion his few temporary alliances does make him a bit beyond the Go Karting With Bowser trope, but I ignore the Kart and Sports games.

I understand why some people want the "main" Mario series to have characterization or to be Darker and Edgier. Mega Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, and The Legend Of Zelda have done both, but I don't feel that Mario needs to follow that route. In fact, the Paper Mario series has successfully achieved both already.

Great, now I wanna know the Word-of-God canon reason why Bowser wants to rule over Mushroom Kingdom.

@ Waxing Name That's why this is an idea for an RPG. After that, the Mario games would be the same, only with a new villain and set of baddies and nothing more. Bowser would get a spinoff where he simply fights this new Big Bad with his kingdom. But the important thing is it would be an badass action game for those who simply like to play those kind of potentially M-Rated games if it's well-programmed for the upcoming Wii U and fun for adults to play, given that much more adults have played video games than in the past. Still, it's Nintendo's decision, not mine. These are just suggestions they have the right to reject. I just think that older gamers who grew up playing Mario games could use a more badass adult game. The Bowser spinoff idea would be as strictly about the gameplay and lasting appeal as the Mario games.

Mario has always been a family thing. Anything not rated an E would not only have fans cry Ruined FOREVER, but have the game as a media laughingstock, no matter how good it's programmed.

Shadow The Hedgehog even managed to be a fan laughingstock even when it only got E10.

"Where's that damn fourth chaos emerald?"

Also, I once recall Movie Bob suggesting that Nintendo make a Mario FPS called Mario Paintball.

I jokingly had an idea for a gritty, realistic Mario FPS where Luigi betrays Mario to Bowser and he is stranded on an island with his pet dog Yoshi, where he gradually goes insane and finally snaps and escapes, then proceeds to go on a killing spree. The only other thing I really came up with was that the enemies would instead be people and animals experimented on and mutated by the evil scientist Kamek.

The closest thing to a Mario FPS was the SNES game Yoshi's Safari, which used the SNES Super Scope.

@707Ruz The Mario games would always be rated E. I was just suggesting any Bowser game would be rated M, or T.

It seems you all reject my idea. I decided to post it when realized the articles were strictly for facts, not individual opinions. I just didn't know where to find the forum. I also considered the idea that the greater evil that Bowser would join with would be a greater evil behind Smithy, who turned out to be a robot in Super Mario RPG. And since robots can build themselves or come out of thin air, it would be an all-powerful, living Prime Smithy. And the help that Mario would get at Monstro Town would be long-since reformed ex-Smithy Gang generals Mack, Bowyer, Yaridovich and the Axem Rangers. They would be revealed to have teleported away after being defeated to avoid Smithy's wrath. They would initially stay evil, hoping Smithy could rule the world with their robot duplicates even without the real, prime ones. Upon hearing of Smithy's defeat, they realized that evil isn't unbeatable and went to Monstro Town. And we'd see the Axem Rangers untransformed into their true alien forms (like Power Rangers and Super Sentai) now apprentices of Jinx. I even suggested some real names: Red = James; Pink = Jackie; Green = Bruce; Black = Lloyd (after Jim Carrey's character in Dumb and Dumber); and Yellow = Harry (after Jeff Daniels' character in Dumb and Dumber).

But I guess I'll scrap all these ideas. I just wanted to share them on a forum that are more knowledgeable than others. I guess I'm done, especially since these aren't meant for actual article. I just hope now there's no hard feelings, given how appreciative I am for TV Tropes and how I study tropes extensively for my writing.

I know the Mario games will always be rated E.

A game focusing on Bowser is a Mario game. Ergo, it'd still be mocked to oblivion.

[up] That'd work. If it didn't take itself seriously and was rated E like the other Mario RPG.

You can't have a Mario RPG that takes itself seriously. The past 7 only did during final bosses and the such (though the 2nd and 3rd Paper Mario games took themselves more seriously than all other Mario RP Gs) and making a Mario RPG that did take itself seriously would feel strange to most players.

tl;dr: You had a good idea, but it sounded like it didn't need to be M-rated or overtly serious.

There's already been a game that focused on Bowser, and still rated E.

It's called Mario And Luigi Bowsers Inside Story.

Oh, yeah, and returning Smithy would be hard considering Square Enix owns the character.

@ 707ruz. I was just thinking being a more violent, adult M-Rated game would help the badass-ness of Bowser if he'd finally become a born-again antihero, giving up his evil ways (which I currently consider him having become lousy at anyway) and becoming a permanent ally of the Super Mario Brothers and the Mushroom Kingdom, but only for his own survival. He'd be in it for himself. But I guess all the ideas can be laid to rest. I was thinking that Nintendo would able to negotiate with Squarenix, but I guess not. I just thought a potential M-rating would suit a Bowser spinoff. But I guess not, and there won't be a Bowser spinoff, as Nintendo would reject it. I was just voicing my opinion, but I'm done with all that with regards to Bowser and the Mario games.

Speaking of Mario being E-rated, Mario Strikers Charged managed to do this. It's even more hilarious that Waluigi's teammates do it too.

Yeah. Same with Wario. Neither of them really appear in the Mario platformers or RPG's, which seems like a missed opportunity, IMO.
