Wow, really?

What better reason to make a 3D Mario game that updates that game's exploration focus?

I beat it, but only got 94 stars.

You had the luxury to play the DS version? Lucky, I say.

It's pretty solid. The lack of analog control hurts it a little, but the layouts of the levels don't make it as much of a hassle as it could be since, y'know, very early analog-using game.

Meh, the 64 version controls better.

I play it now and then, but it's increasingly unable to hold my attention long. I can usually beat the game with all 120 stars in about 5 or 6 hours at this point.

Clearly, it's time to try to complete Chaos Edition.

Those remixes, they compliment the soul of randomness.

I wish I could play it, but a portable playlist...just as good.

Super Mario RPG finally hits the NA Wii U VC tomorrow. Maybe I'll get around to it this time.

The first and best RPG in the franchise.

I think I realize now why they took different directions in the PM and M&L series: they don't want to be stuck in the shadow of what SMRPG did.

My SNES file is still saved right before the final boss ^_^ My main party, once I got all the character, was Mario, Bowser and Peach.

...I feel bad for Mallow and Geno now XD; Though I did use Mallow in the volcano against Czar Dragon.

Mallow is stuck sharing a niche with Peach, who does everything he does but better, and Geno requires very high skill with action commands to outdamage Bowser, never mind that Bowser has such high raw stats that Tank might well be his middle name.

Are we entirely sure that Tank isn't Bowser's middle name?

Geno is usually considered ideal over Bowser simply due to Geno Boost.

Also you'd be a fool not to take Geno into battle against Exor.

I could never get Geno Whirl to do 9999 damage on anything, so I never beat Exor that way. XD I had both Lazy Shells though!

So (N)3DS VC when for Super Mario RPG?

...Come to think of it I think the only reason I got as far as I did was BECAUSE of the player's guide. Like that secret where you have to jump on a Toad's head to get the treasure chest box on the arch of a doorway that you can only do once, or unlocking the casino, or fighting and beating Mokura, or waiting around on the screen long enough for Shy Away to drop the fertilizer...

On another topic, here's an analysis of Mario Kart 8's soundtrack and the concepts involved in it.

The video nailed what I felt when first playing through Mario Kart 8 and listening to the soundtrack: "It really does create this feeling hat you've sat down not only to play the game, but also to enjoy the show."

I really like how jazzy Mario music has been getting recently. It's most pronounced in Kart 8, but even the Super 3D titles have some of it going for them.

I don't use Geno Whirl on Exor. Takes all the fun out of the fight.

How can you want to end a battle where the enemy's mouth is named Neosquid and you constantly get "The EYE is protecting Exor!!" messages popping up early?

But yeah, my favorite team is the three characters who weren't cast into Copyright Limbo forever afterwards, sad as it is.

I never understood the appeal to Geno. Sure, he's powerful, but he's dull as dirt.
