So, this is the thread to knock that annoying Writer's Block out of your mind so you could get to writing, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Here, we could do something as complex as briefly discuss something that you can't write down, or something as simple as just kick people off of TV Tropes. Or here you can just tell yourself to get off and start writing.

Now, if you excuse me, I'll be turning off my wireless so I can get some more writing down...

I can't ever start a project, because I just can't get down the perfect opening paragraph. ;_;

Start with another paragraph.

Yeah. Type in [INSERT LEAD HERE] and go on. I don't do it very often, but I should.

I have another idea. On this thread, you can place something like:

Troper's Name: To be gone until 6:00 PM Troper's Time.

So if anyone who is watching this thread sees you doing idle chat around the forum, they can tell you to get off, either by asking them on the topic or just send over a PM.

Darn.

At the moment, I'm waiting for someone else to read a story and give me feedback. I don't want to start anything else until I get this finished, so I'm stalled at the moment. I've been trying to think of relevant questions to ask on this forum, though.

Try flash fiction or a short story. If you work non-stop, you could finish it within two hours. Let me give you a prompt:

Your character encounters a cow on the road, and has to find a way to get it off.

I don't think I'm having Writer's Block per se, but today I decided to re-conceptualize my story for the third time, so now I have to go through all of the planning, outlining, and discovery writing before I'll be ready to start it back up again. I hope I don't take too long this time.

Posted this in Writer's Block Daily, but here seems a better spot:

I suck. I have no motivation and no ideas, I'm stuck on all fronts.

  • My Na No Wri Mo planning has hit a wall because of a nasty little piece of Fridge Logic that got kicked up concerning the main villain.
  • The rewrite of my Old Shame Naruto fanfic is slow because I'm at the point where Naruto kinda... dies.
  • The writing contest... ugh. I just have no ideas on where to go with this, it's killing me.
  • And then there's that lovely Shonen project, which I'd be more inclined to work on if we could get more than three of us in a chat at a time. And I can't get a piece of lesbian slash fiction out of my head concerning my two characters :P

Then write the lesbian slash fiction while the idea is fresh. What's the piece of Fridge Logic for your Na No Wri Mo outline?

Okay, here's the deal: 17 years before the start of the story, legendary sorceress Elysia fights the High Daylight Walker Keaira. Fast forward to chapter... 6, according to my outline, and Elysia's nephew is exploring the citadel that Keaira was imprisoned in. His blood begins to undo the seal, and the pissed off vampire chases him and his friends into the city, where she goes on a rampage and pretty much slaughters everything in her path.

Until she comes across the main pair, Yuki and Amaya. Amaya is Elysia's daughter, and they bear a striking resemblance. So Keaira kidnaps Amaya, curb-stomps Yuki, and flees back to her citadel to do... evily stuff.

This is where the Fridge Logic kicks in. Yuki begins some Training from Hell to get Amaya back, but I have no idea why Keaira wouldn't just drag Amaya back and drain every last drop of blood from her body.

Hmm...that is major Fridge Logic. Let me spit out a few possibilities.

  • You could have a third party kidnap Amaya, and start a game of kidnapping ping-pong among the two.
  • Keaira wants to turn Amaya into a vampire due to her resemblance to Elysia, but can not due to age or something.
  • Amaya is kept around as a slave or a pet.
  • Keaira had a crush on Elysia, and wants to wait for Amaya to grow older before doing...stuff.
  • Keaira wants to turn Amaya into a Tyke Bomb against Elysia, or use her as a pawn in her masterplan.
  • For some reason, Amaya just can't be drunk from. Maybe her blood is poisonous to her.
  • Keaira likes the taste of Amaya's blood, and want to keep her around so she can continue drinking from her.

Okay, I've got most of my major issues sorted out:

  • Leo isn't a direct descendant of Elysia, so his blood doesn't completely unseal the curse
    • Amaya, however, is a direct descendant, so with the proper ritual, Keaira can return to full strength
    • Said ritual takes at least 30 days to prepare properly, given no sabotage.

Writing contest... I scrapped my old entry, I'll be working on a new one here soon.

Naruto Fanfic: Naruto has pretty much crossed the moral event horizon by this point, and killing him is an (admittedly grey) act of heroism.

And I got that bit of Les Yay-fueled Ashwood Landing writing out of my head. Mostly.

[up] So that's what you were working on yesterday.

Well, at least you broke through your writer's block! Now, show me the lesbian slash.

BUMPING.

It's so hard doing my 750 Words. I should stop holding them off onto nighttime and risk procrastinating for two hours.

I'm not going to check the forum after this post...

Should we pin this.

All right. To 750 Words—once I find my earplugs.

...Or not. I'm going to a movie in ten minutes. Way to kill momentum. :(

Argh, I need somebody to kick my lazy ass back into writing. I just can't write anything sensible! My current idea is just refuse to be written and add the fact that I have no actual idea how it begins! I don't know any of the characters names, I just know their personalities and only rough versions at best! I have no story and the only actual thing I have to work with is the world which even now isn't complete!

^ Do you have a protagonist and an antagonist (or two opposing protagonists)? If so, what makes them conflict?

[up] I have a Protagonist, yes, but no exact antagonist. There are characters that are evil, in the eyes of the main character, and there is a little conflict, but nothing really drives it.

^ If your current protagonist has no motivation to act against other characters, you may need to find another protagonist. (Well, that or another antagonist—the two can be surprisingly similar.)

The antagonist does not necessarily need to be a person. I tend to have protagonists who struggle against their own personality traits, so their enemy is themselves.
