Yeah, I'm pretty sure people who like listening to japanese voices aren't a race.

Seriously, Kojima does not like switching to Japanese voices. Seems pseudo-racist towards those who enjoy Japanese voice action don't you think?

Not at all. The reasons these types of games don't have dual language tracks is to discourage the Japanese citizens from importing the cheaper "international" versions.

[up] What do you mean by cheap?

Also, how come recently, Street Fighter IV and the Soul Series games have dual language options?

[up] Because it's getting more common, but it's still not everywhere. Like, Atlus still rarely does it, Namco Bandai almost never does it, and Konami rarely does it as well.

Part of it is because there's a license fee associated with the Japanese track. Some of the publishers want to save a little money.

I got the HD collection after hearing about the patch and I gotta say, the first is a strange game. It seems most of the development cycle was spent elaborating a flashy combat system (and to its credit, it is very flashy, though rather shallow) but had far less time to built an actual game around it. The pacing is pitiful, you fight the 3 same or so enemies for the first half of the game and the game is padded to the gill with inane fetch quests ("'k so now we need to find an item to get past this contrived roadblock. Have fun backtracking through EVERY SINGLE LEVELS in the hope you randomly stumble upon it!"). I'd be lying I said I didn't have fun, but it's not very good either.

Hopefully, the 2nd Runner is as good as they say.

The first game was a tech demo, that was sold with the help of an actual tech demo. The second game has a more dynamic battle system, no more incredibly whiny protagonist, and the levels are varied enough that they're interesting.

At first I assumed it was a callsign. The first time he's called by his name the voice acting makes it sound that way.

"Dingo. Egret."

Aye to that. It's awkward (and the poor acting from everyone except ADA and the enemy commander guy doesn't help) but not quite awkward enough to become enjoyable... though there's an amusing exchange early in the game that I am sure will remain burned in my mind.

ADA: 'k so i did the scan analolsys and ther r no loife form signs dected in teh area

Leo: SO DOES THAT MEAN EVERYONE IS DEAD

ADA: yeah lol

LEO: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

edit: oh, you were talking about the sequel. reading comprehension fail :V.

Unless the voice acting is really bad I don't even notice things like that. As long as they're not speaking in monotone or...

Talkng like how is not good.

The voice acting in the sequel is actually pretty good. It's actually kind of strange how well they can act the weird translation.

It's like the opposite of Baten Kaitos or Arc Rise Fantasia where the text translation is great, but the voice acting completely sucks.

What makes a weird translation happen, anyway?

It's not bad, just that a lot of the phrasing is kind of strange.

[up][up] That sort of thing tends to happen either when the proofreader or editor isn't paying attention or if the translators aren't native english speakers. You also get stuff like Castle Shikigami II where it seems that they machine translated it. And got a bunch of really horrible actors.

Essentially, Zone of the Enders 2 just has a kind of awkward translation. The plot is still easily comprehensible, some of the phrasing is just weird. It certainly isn't a really bad translation, it's just sub-par.

many people say the voice-actors of ZOE games are bad.The dialogue was localized a bit weird, but the voice-actors themselves can't be blamed for that, especially when ZOE games used the same talent pool of actors that Telltale uses for their games(i.e. Dingo was voiced by Agent Superball from Sam & Max and Zakat's pilot was voiced by Kid Beyond, the first voice-actor of Max)and, besides, when you have Sweet Tooth and Ghostface(Roger Jackson is a great voice-actor,he was awesome as Nohman. Then again,he nails voicing creept/hammy villains)in the same game,it can't be that bad, right?Hell, the english voice-actors were actually more consistent than the Japanese ones, since in the second game, they Darrin'd all the returning characters except ADA and Viola(with Nohman having three voice-actors:Masashi Ebara in the first game,Jouji Nakata in his Doloroes anime cameo, and Jurota Kosugi in the second game.).Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OV As dub was another example of how these voice-actors were badly used despite them being good

so,I found something interesting,even though it's old:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3bcj4IW7fA

somebody subbed the game on his own and posted on youtube, clarifying some weird stuff from the localization(remember the "second hand" thing?it actually meant whom they were quoting about using power for the things they believe in.)
