How do you propose for me to fix it?
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.Actually, OP, do you remember if you got any hats before launching? Hats don't show up on YKTTW permanent UR Ls (yet).
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I think the key thing that makes this actually a trope is that it is specifically played for laughs. I feel like any of the examples which do not obviously use the trope like that are not actually examples of it and are closer to a People Sit On Chairs type of use. That being said, I do think that there needs to be at least some elaboration in the description to help stop such misuse.

"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dPlayed for Laughs, sure. I can remember one commercial which started out as a driver's view of the road with various bugs identified as they each went splat on the windshield, followed by ... damn, I forget how it ended. It was genius.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.No, this is not People Sit On Chairs. This is usually averted in dramas — that is, usually not depicted — even when driving through areas where it might reasonably happen — due to Law of Conservation of Detail. If it's not plot-important or joke-important, then it isn't used because it isn't interesting in itself and requires extra trouble.
Note that bugs on windshields interfere with the popular through-the-windshield shot.

There is a fine line between recklessness and courage — Paul McCartneyI was in too much of a hurry to see if there were any hats, so I don't know.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.Why (the hurry, I mean)?
If you're in a hurry to launch your YKTTW, you're probably overlooking something in the process. Might be something important, even.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.It's a habit, I'm sorry.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.Go ahead and delete this trope. I promise I'll slow down and look things over a little more.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all. It's generally preferable to fix up than delete.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Just give me some ideas, and I can fix this trope like new.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.The three day clock was added specifically because people were in too much of a hurry to launch.
Fight smart, not fair. You realize of course that some of the examples I've included did have the POV of the inside of the car as the bug hit the windshield.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.I don't think there will be too many problems with the trope as long as we keep it to Played for Laughs.
Is there any way out of this situation that doesn't involve loss of life? Specifically, my life?Agreed.
Sometimes, you just can't win them all.Since there is now a mention in the description of how this trope only describes when the bug splattering is played for laughs, I think the People Sitting On Chairs issue is more or less resolved here.
I might be missing something though, so if you think there is more to be done with this trope, feel free to say so.

Possibly rushed through YKTTW, launched after 72 hours and can't tell if there were any hats (because only the main YKTTW listing displays them).
Questions about chairs remain to be resolved so that it doesn't wind up as merely "examples of bugs going splat in fiction".
