Hikaru Midorikawa does extra lines for free.

And the Producer of Dai Guard practically begged Terada for Dai Guard to be in Z2

Even so, the battle sprites look really weird and super deformed.

An unfortunate limitation of the format, which has only been avoided on two occasions. Then again, if unit scale wasn't completely ignored at every turn, I'd never get to see a standard-size mech suplex a battleship.

I like the super deformed look honestly.

And in Z2 and the newest OG announced, they are less SD now.

SRW tried realistic sprites before. It never worked out.

^^ Sabin suplexed a ghost train.

Kitamura suplexes battleships.

Kitamura wins.

The Super Deformed works to help mask the size difference issues.

Take W, for instance. In that game you have Tekkaman Blade, who is basically a human in Powered Armor. On the other end of the scale, you have a mecha that is made by two battleships combining.

Which wields another mech as a weapon.

Alpha Gaiden's my favorite of the translated crossover games, which isn't saying much as there are only two of them. Anyway, aside from its translation, it's got pretty good graphics and solid voice work, which ought to give a decent impression of the console SRWs. In terms of story, it does start six months after the first Alpha game, but characters will frequently recap what happened back then.

There's also Zengar Zonvolt and Neo Granzon in Alpha Gaiden, so you can see by yourself the reason why they're so famed. (Well, good luck though)

As for the series choice, I also prefer Alpha Gaiden's to Judgement's. After War Gundam X needs more love.

I'm surprised Hardcore Gaming 101 has no page on this. The only one they do have is Another Centurys Episode, another series I should probably get into.

Yeah, shame there's no English translation for ACE. If there was one, I'd buy it in an instant.

The big shame about all of these releases, both SRW and ACE, is that a ton of licensing issues would need to be cleared up AND tons of voice actors would be needed, possibly making it even more expensive to export unless it's an OG-only game.

[up] Considering that the VA work is always top notch in SRW, why should we be forced to get dubs? The companies are too dumb to realize no one wants english voice work.

Yakuza doesn't have it and they do fine.

Some platforms like Sony's (that covers loads of majors titles like Alpha, OGS, etc.) forces the publishers to have a voice acting, if the game contains any, in the same language than the region it's published. Well, they practically requires an English dub for games that gets published out of Japan.

[up][up][up]Considering that the dubs of Super Robot shows tend to be top-notch nowadays. I wouldn't mind a dub myself. I don't think the novelty of seeing Gurren Lagann and Code Geass in the same game would be quite the same for most people in america if they don't have their original english VA's.

Yeah, that's another thing. For a lot of the shows featured in these games, the original English voice actors are no longer available. Dynasty Warriors Gundam ran into that problem, and they just found some half-assed VAs that sounded nothing like the originals.

[up][up]That wouldn't be a problem for original MSG characters, since they've been voiced by LA actors before. This is assuming that they'd use LA actors of course, in which I wouldn't mind some of the Ocean voiced characters being replaced if that were the case, as long as they can bring back as many of the original actors as possible.

We will never get a SRW with other shows, leaving only OG.

OG could have been done without the damn voice clause (and Yakuza gets by without dubs, what the hell?)

Anyone you'd like to cast for a hypothetical English dub?
