There are examples already that are neither exactly seven nor exactly two years. The name doesn't have to be restrictive. And this is not a trope, so it's really not a big deal. Basically, if you have another name to suggest, and you want to do the extra cleanup (renaming both will double the amount of work required), give it to us. I've already said I'll support any name that isn't a cryptic acronym. But I'm not going to bother trying to think up other names, because I think Seven-Year Rule is close enough for a trivia page that borders on whining.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I agree. The fact that not all the examples are seven is immaterial. Same reason we did NOT rename You Gotta Have Blue Hair, people get that it's not just blue hair (or not just seven years in this case). It's less work to merge, tweak the description on Seven-Year Rule and call solved.
And I see so many entries on character pages saying "You Gotta Have Blue Hair: literally" and crap it drives me nuts that we didn't rename it to something like You Gotta Have Colorful Hair or split the whole thing by Hair colors.... Blue Hair is nothing special... anyway that's offtopic.
IMO if ya pick a name that only covers 1/2 the examples good chance that is pretty much all your going to get in the examples department too.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Yet you're not offering anything better. Until you do, Seven-Year Rule gets my full support.
As I said before, if this were a trope, I might care a little more, but whether a trivia page gets sufficient examples is a matter of very little concern.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Fleeting Demographic Rule from the last page sounds good. This is very closely related to Fleeting Demographic.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!For reference, Paragraph 3 of the current description of Seven-Year Rule (emphasis mine)
So, how do I go about setting up us the Crowners ?

Ketchum's corollary to Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced tactic is indistinguishable from blind luck.I think everyone agrees on the merge, so we just need a names crowner for the merged trope. Since we haven't officially decided to reject Seven-Year Rule, that can be one of the names on the crowner.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Crowner hooked.
I didn't write any of that.I put in some initial options:
- Seven-Year Rule: Pro wrestling term
- Five Year Rule: Western comic term
- Two Year Rule: After No One Has A Memory Over Two Years Old
- Demographic Refresh: Just as something different
Any more suggestions?

[The rest was unintelligible.]I tossed in the one Raso liked. Seemed like it was a decent option. I'm tempted to vote yes for all, but I'll hold off for a bit and see if there's any more comments that might sway me in some particular direction.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Tum tee tum, bumping for votes.
[The rest was unintelligible.]Demografic refresh? Seriously? That doesn't even sound like it means anything.
Added Demographic Rollover. Same general idea as refresh, but a better connotation.
Fight smart, not fair.Looking a lot like Fleeting Demographic Rule is going to win the day in any case.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Looks like it has
15 days and a rather clear majority for Fleeting Demographic Rule. We can probably call this now and start the work.
Bump. We did decide to merge these, yes?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Yup. At least, the crowner is closed at 22-to-3 in favor.
Merged the pages; getting started on the wicks.
Thank you. Can I make Seven-Year Rule and NOHAMOTYO into redirects once I'm done with the Wicks?
The wicks are okay except for five which either don't exist or are locked. I made the redirects and noted it on Renamed Tropes and the thread (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=mpsec5f7y4p492v5gegy57qj).
I took out the ghost wicks. The only old wick remaining now is on an archive page.
Is there anything left to do here? Do merges get notices the way renames do?

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Arcades Sabboth, |
It looks like that was already done though, so it seems like we can go ahead and lock this thread.

Crown Description:
Consensus in the thread is to merge NOHAMOTYO and Seven Year Rule. This is to determine the name of the merged article. (NOHAMOTYO is not an option.)
Except if we merge under the name Seven-Year Rule half the examples wont fit the name at all.
If we merge we need a new name.
Btw when I first read NOHAMOTYO I thought of the nohamasho cult in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei who worship people who sleep in their own piss at the beach... just wanted to add that
