Wrapped up Metal Gear Solid 3 again. Still amazing. The ladder is still my favorite part.
By the way, what do you all think about how Metal Gear Survive is going to turn out? I've heard some mixed feelings about the demo at E3.
I've heard it's good, but that trying to make it Metal Gear is a huge mistake.
I honestly think that since it's not a direct sequel, a remake, or even trying to retcon anything and it's clearly a AU game. This is Konami's smartest least evil decision.
Not counting for all the shit they are pulling now.
Their biggest mistake was connecting it to the peace walker base.
Don't forget how they're actually showing the Diamond Dogs Command Platform, not the one from Peace Walker as part of the debris in the alternate dimension.
If i get the game (keyword if) Im going to deliberately kill off the characters multiple times then create a fanfic based on how they died just to to spite konami and then I will make a video of me peeing on the game, smashing it with a hammer and throwing the remains into the fireplace.
Uh huh.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Dude excessive.
Not when you take into account what Fuckonami has done to Kojima, other game developers, and the Metal Gear name.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That's awful yes. But the response to just the game and what they will do is still excessive. Especially since it is only a game, something made to grab cash. Let's treat it like that.
Konami is a business made of people, ergo we must criticize the company for bad practices rather than what was described above.
Metal Gear Survive is gonna be a cash grab that will be at best ok and forgettable. Konami is a company with evil practices currently trying to outdo EA in terms of evilness.

I would also point out that unless you steal the game, having a physical copy requires you to have purchased it and send your money to Konami anyway thus showing that they can be a dick to their developers and still make money anyway.
So let's react to this like mature rational people, call them out on this bullshit, and show how people react to these shitty practices.
So, riot in the streets?
Twitter death threats?
Funny enough the little tagline above me as I'm typing this post says, "Soble prepares a salvo."
But anyway, yeah, buying the game at all supports Konami/the team responsible for the game's engine/programming/what have you.
Konami isn't the first, and certainly won't be the last company to treat employees badly.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Boycotting the game is a fully valid tactic, 'dont like it dont play'.
The big one that hasn't been pulled out yet is someone 'spiritual successor to metal gear' kickstarter.

Problem though is that the loudest detractors have no ground to stand on if they don't actually sit down and analyze the game. Then it's just hot air they're spouting about a game they've never played.
But if anyone is that against Konami then the most logical thing to do would be to boycott the game. Seeing as Capcom manages to resell virtually the same game 5-6 times I don't think the gaming community is that competent.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!With it being such a stark change from MGS I can see just the fanbase not buying it on that alone.

Um.
- Phantom Pain with the newly open world, FOB, mission structure, regenerating health, increased action, and bullet time.
- Rising, with the ninjas and the grading and the ninjas.
- Sons of Liberty with the naked cartwheels and the tranq guns and the stamina gauge.
- Metal Gear Acid was a card game.
- Peace Walker cribbed team management from Portable Ops (another stark change) and then implemented base management.
- Heck, Metal Gear Solids 3 and 4 held some pretty big changes with the camo index and the octocamo.
- Rising Revengeance.
Pretty much every game in this franchise held a stark change from the previous entry. Metal Gear is a drug and we're all shameless addicts.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Story wise it's stayed consistent, even Rising really.
This however is not.
Also Zombies....

Storywise:
Metal Gear Solid: War is bad, child soldiers are bad, genetic engineering isn't a golden ticket, you should probably think about how awful the games you're enjoying really are. Genes. Memes. Scenes. Religious allusions and Ho Yay ahoy!
Rising: War is bad, PTSD is real, politicians are self-absorbed, silver-tongued madmen, people don't really heal from bad experiences, but who the f'ck cares when you're judo-flipping giant robots, WOOO! ROOLS OF NAAYCHUR. AND THEY RUN WHEN THE SUN COMES UP. WITH THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!You don't have to play a game before you decide you aren't interested though.

True, but by the same token you can't say a game is bad if you haven't played it. They can talk about they want about the concept but unless they actually have analysed how it works in execution then it's going to be lesser.
Not saying that Survive is not going to wind up as a cheap cash-in, but the original point is that the most vocal critics will have to play the game to make their criticisms "legitimate" for lack of a better word.
it might be good however this is KONAMI a company who has lost touch with its fans and has been losing their MV Ps left and right... I highly doubt that it will be good.
To be fair, Liquid doesn't really have a good grasp on genetics and he was kind of nuts anyway. >_>
"The acting imperial viceroy of Doma, Yotsuyu's grace and beauty belie a heart of stone."
Finished Mgs 2 The tanker chapter was awesome The beginning of shell one all the way up to the harrier fight was pretty good (even if stillmans introduction went on too long) The shell 2 sequence was eeeehh (I did like the Vamp fight and some of the story moments) Arsenal gear was... wow I already had an idea of what happened there but... holy shit that was powerful. overall 8.25/10.
